Epicor 9.05.700 - Solution Manager

When you try to restore style sheets for reports, it also may only copy one of the style sheets, but the same as the auto print, they are pretty easy to just type in.

For the most part I think Solution Manager is working much better in 9.05.700 than any of the previous versions.

But I still ran into a few issues last time I used it.
Here are the two issues that come to mind now:

1 - Dropped Auto-Print info for Report Data Definitions and BAMs.
--- Not a huge deal, I just manually re-enter.

2 - Partial writes of related files for BAQ reports and Dashboards. This was enough of a problem that I finally switched back to export/import for BAQ reports and Dashboards for now.
Sometimes a solution install resulted is orphan record(s).
It was a known issue when I contacted Epicor & they did send me scripts to clean some out some types of orphans (but not all). I never could determine why some would fail.

Patrick,

We used solution manager when we moved from test to live. Though all we had at the time were some BPM’s, a few customizations and a some BAQ’s/Dashboards. Everything went over perfect.
We also did it once again when we updated from 700c to 701. This time we had some issues with BAQ’s getting broken thus breaking some dashboards too. Otherwise BPM’s and customizations continued to work.

Hi Patrick,

I’ve used solutions manager, but with varying degrees of success for each area using 9.05.605. It was very successful for BAQ’s and Quick Searches. For customizations and Dashboards, it seemed to work, but we were told often by our VAR that we should export them manually and then import them. Therefore, for the production, we did that.

My recommendation is that if you have a large amount of items to move, restore a copy of your db to your Pilot db (if you have already gone live with new system or upgrade) and then test by using Solutions Manager to export those items.

Regards,

Sigfredo.
