We have been using Epicor/Vantage since the late 90's and have recently decided to implement Saleforce software instead of the CRM module in Epicor. We are currently running version Epicor 9.04.507. We have not decided if we are going to go the route of integration and would be interested in hearing if there are other companies out there using both Epicor and Sales force, and the experiences of either running the two programs standalone, or going the integration route.

Any feedback on success, failure, or pitfalls would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
We looked into that, but ended up going with SugarCRM. We did the sugar
integration ourself and it wasn't too bad.

Also, one of the consulting firms out there has already built an
Epicor/Sugar integration package might have been AltTech but my memory is
a bit fuzzy. It was a bit expensive for us, but depending on the size of
your sales force/company the numbers may be more palatable to you.

Progress or SQL?

I'd like to hear more too.

At one company the latest CRM initiative is MS Dynamics CRM.
Starting small with a couple stand alone cloud licenses and no integration. I only played with it a couple of days. It appeared that you could remain simple or get as complicated as you'd like.

The same company has the CRM module but only ever used the calls feature. As a small company & the view is that the CRM module required too much setup and lacked useful features.
Before Vantage CRM, they had Clientele from Epicor. Users seemed to like it. There was a fair amount of administration and customization.
IT had to focus on Vantage so Clientele was allowed to go fallow. Users still access it for history and knowledgebooks.
I'm not sure if it has integration with Vantage of if Epicor even sells it anymore.

I know one company that is using SalesForce. They dump records out of Vantage on a schedule and upload to SalesForce. I get the feeling it works but it is inconvenient. But there are other items with a higher priority for them to deal with.

We looked into Salesforce and even got 2 licenses. We will probably abandon Salesforce due to cost. When you start adding modules it gets really expensive. We are headed down the Microsoft CRM route right now in our investigation. Cost is 1/3 of Salesforce. If you are SQL based you can use Scribe (online is fairly inexpensive) for data movement.

Over the next few months we'll probably be down the MS path and have it integrated with MS.
We are currently looking at options, watched a demo with SalesForce being cloud based and integrated with Epicor - nice features but very expensive service.
