We are needing to make a mass substitution of some operations of MOMs but have found that when using the DMT, while it will change the operation, it will not “reload/refresh” the “details” of the scheduling resources for the new OpCode. When doing it manually in the system, Epicor 9  will “ask” if you want to refresh Yes or No.  How do I get the DMT to default to selecting “YES” on that question????
Sorry to bump the original question up but I’m REALLY hoping someone can answer this..

I cannot answer your question on the DMT tool itself but have you tried the mass operation replace option under Engineering workbench to see if that would work for you?
I’m not sure if it will do what you are seeking….

Manasa, thanks for the answer. We have several “rules” we had to go through to “figure out” what the new OP codes have to be so using that Mass replace deal isn’t an option since it’s simply a “one to one” swapout. The DMT tool works except it just doesn’t update the scheduling resources which I know people don’t always “want” to do (which is why Epicor in the application “asks” the question). I just need to know if there’s some “switch” or something within the DMT that would make it work….

Ah…I think understand better….you are looking to add a specific scheduled resource against the new op based on whatever criteria, right?

Yes, exactly. I have a query that has some serious logic in it to “figure out” what NewOpCode I want to use based on Old Op Code, Resource Group, Op Dtl Seq, etc etc…I then output that to a spreadsheet that I load into the DMT. It runs like I want it to but the only kicker is that “by default” it Does NOT update the scheduling resources with the ones from the New OP code, it keeps the old ones.Â

I remember having to use one template for PartOpr and another separate pass to update the PartOprDtl records.
Bruce, no I’m using just the one “Bill of Operations” template under the Engineering section in the DMT. It looks like it works like I want it except for it not updating the scheduling resources (as it should in my opinion)…

Are you using two templates in DMT?
I remember having to use one template for PartOpr and another separate pass to update the PartOprDtl records.
What fields are you sending from the ECOOpDtl table? I always sent AltMethod and think I remember that being important.  The person who taught me DMT told me to go thru the change in the application and then mimic that in DMT. So don’t look at it as the refresh, but how would you change the scheduling resource on its own.
Â
We don’t go to the resource level, but I sent these fields in addition to the ECOOpr fields.
ECOOpDtl#Company |
ECOOpDtl#PartNum |
ECOOpDtl#RevisionNum |
ECOOpDtl#OprSeq |
ECOOpDtl#AltMethod |

>> one “Bill of Operations” templateYes, this happened to me the first time I tried methods too.
>> not updating the scheduling resources
I had to run add a second template just to update the resources in the PartOpDtl records.
The DMT manual kind of implied that it would work with one just one template.
No matter what I tried, it pulled in the default scheduling ressource per the OpCode.
That sounds about right to me as well….but it has been so long and I am sure we never had anything as complicated as what you are trying to achieve.

You have to use the additional fields from the template. Fields like ECOOpDtl#ResourceGrpID. Plus some other ones as well, I think 4 other ones. I took me a long time to figure that out.

That sounds about right to me as well….but it has been so long and I am sure we never had anything as complicated as what you are trying to achieve.

Are you using two templates in DMT?
I remember having to use one template for PartOpr and another separate pass to update the PartOprDtl records.

Mike,
Easy to forget about but Tracing may allow you to see what is going on during "refresh" ...run thru your process of changing one Operation out and just before getting into the sub step of refreshing, turn on Tracing and make a trace of the detailed methods called and data sent. That will tell you where and what to trigger additionally to refresh en-mass.Â
If you have service connect, you could do this in a looping process or as part of the Op swap instead of using DMT.Â

Joe, thanks so much. I got a message back from Epicor after complaining that says if I put in an “undocumented” column in the spreadsheet that is called “RefreshResources” and set it to TRUE for the parts I wish to refresh the resources then it will do what I want. If that works, that’s about as simple as it could be. Of course, this was “undocumented” LOL….

Mike,
For what it's worth. I'm on E10.0.700.4, but it's probably pretty close. Here something we did last year when we took out some alternate methods and set up new primary methods. I don't remember what all we did now, but here's an entry that might help.

I remember having to use one template for PartOpr and another separate pass to update the PartOprDtl records.IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM API: This communication, including any attachments, contains information that may be confidential or privileged and is intended solely for the entity or individual to whom it is addressed.
