Epicor 9 error - "You are approaching the UI resource limit". W

This error is related to cached forms.

We’ve recently went live on our Epicor 9 upgrade from Vantage 8 and some users are reporting they are receiving this error when they open up a couple of forms in Epicor.   What is this?   They have been opting to “increase” the resource limit to 18,000 from 10,000 but I have no clue what the number actually is referring to or what it does.  Can anyone share some insight???

Windows has a hard limit of (UI resources) that you can have on the screen at once. Epicor is just warning you that you have too many and that they want to raise the limit for you. This is a windows limitation and NOT an Epicor one. You'll see this if you have a lot of Epicor / Mixed Windows Open

I guess it’s just odd to us that we’ve NEVER seen this before installing Epicor 9 but to your point, it’s just Epicor giving us a warning (for what reason I have no idea).

Before Epicor 9 what would happen if you hit the limit is epicor would just "evaporate" now at least it tells you :-D

It’s a windows hard limit and just a warning. Increasing to 18,000 it will go away. We have only had 2% of users see this. Some programs like Customer Tracker are bigger hogs on the local resources than others but you’re getting this from a user with a bunch of windows open at once. Maybe they can open and close on the fly to reduce keeping windows open. I have also found creating my own dashboards and adding them to the context menus for quick answers like how many in stock or list the labor records for this operation, etc… greatly reduce the burden on the client rather than running sock Epicor Trackers for every bit of information lookup.
