We were fortunate to find a provider whose employees had used Epicor's software in prior businesses and were well versed in the nuances of the systems functions. Their experience in the "live world" and knowledge of business helped us structure the software and avoid pitfalls.

Hello,
I am new to the group and had a question that I hope to get some feedback on. We are upgrading from Vista 4.41 to Epicor 9 -- yes I know it's a big jump. I have received pricing from Epicor on planning/training/deployment, etc. I was wondering who other members of the group have used for Upgrades besides Epicor and their thoughts on which consultants to use.

We used a combination of Epicor and another service provider for two reasons:
1. Budget
2. Networking and proximity of the provider. It is always nice to have someone who can be on site the same day if needed. Networking with other Epicor customers in your area is always helpful.
Always use a provider who is recommended and supported by Epicor.
I recommend using Epicor for:
Technical training / planning stage / server set up
Training on Scheduling and Engineering Modules
Crystal Report Training
On line modules –Set up structure training for each department and follow progress.

Use the service provider for:
Internal training on how to tailor the software to best meet your needs. We were fortunate to find a provider whose employees had used Epicor's software in prior businesses and were well versed in the nuances of the systems functions. Their experience in the "live world" and knowledge of business helped us structure the software and avoid pitfalls.
Assist in developing written procedures specific to your business
Report writing / assistance
Training on other modules.
