Like the others already said, read the tuning guide.
To have Suggestions run faster look at changing the Number of Processes to a higher value. We found the number is not linear and you reach a point where it no longer improves performance. It can have negative effect on users during the day if you really increase the value, so test and tune until you reach a good balance point for your system. We tuned our system to run Regenerative PO Suggestions in 25 minutes from 2 hours previously.
