Epicor 9 - Ready to Process button in Sales Order entry

It is a big performance issue because each line item you add to the order, it will connect to the internet/avalara and calculate the tax on each line item. So on when line 1 is entered - it checks that line. When line 2 is added, it checks line 1 and then line 2. when line 3 is added, it rechecks taxes for line 1, line2 and line 3 and so on.. So if you have a 10 line item order, it will recalc taxes on line 1 ten times - but if you wait to check the 'ready to process' box at the end of the order, it checks all 10 line items once.

Also note that within company maintenance on the sales tab you can set the default for the 'ready to process, and on the invoicing side, you can set the default (finance/accounts receivable tab) 'Sales tax ready to calculate'.

When I was reading about that button it seems this is more for the tax process through Avalara. I was wondering if this box is unchecked will the taxes not show on an invoice? We set up our customers and put the tax exempt info in there and if they are not exempt we a list the customer as taxable. Should we still use the Ready to Process button even if we are not using Avalara which we are not? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was in a session at Insights where they said to uncheck it for order processing as a performance enhancement. If you are displaying taxes on your order acknowledgement you can click the box just before the final save and it will all roll up fine. In our case we don't show taxes on order acknowledgment (tax connect ignores alt bill to exempt on order entry but picks it up in invoicing). Since we calculate tax in invoicing we would be okay without the box checked in order entry.

Another performance enhancement they suggestions is to uncheck Actions / Auto Retrieve / Inventory Quantities as default if you don't need on hand inventory at time of order.

Now that your post reminded me of these I guess I better get them tested & implemented here!

Jenn

Is there a way with a BAM or global alert to format the email address so it is an address that can be replied to?

I get (compulink-usa.com info@...<mailto:info@...>) when the field just has the email address in it. and it shows as @info

Thanks

Greg

I bet you have an Exchange Server. Ours use to work in 8.03, but somwhere during an update it started to do what yours is doing and no one could ever figure out why. No other applications have this problem with our email server, only Vantage.

I thought that might work, but Epicor just wrapped them in another set of <>. Support duplicated the issue and is submitting to development.

I did find that if I leave the label on the bam blank then the from address is just the email address, so that makes a reply work. Still no reply all, but at least it is progress.
