Epicor Connection Question

I've always set it at the user level. I have a customization on User Maint that checks boxes and build SSO for me, so I don't have to do it everytime.

How do you set up the Network Compression?

We set it under the config file, but if we log in a second time it turns back off.

We are on Epicor 9.05.606

Our company has a remote location to which we are running Epicor over a VPN tunnel. We are experiencing a lot of communication errors to which we have to close and reopen epicor. Is anyone else running over a vpn and what did you do to resolve the issue?
We run epicor over open vpn it works as if we were in the building it's nice. I have network compression enabled and 15mbps down by 2mbps internet connection. Had trouble on any connection slower than that.

Where I worked before (with Epicor) we had several remote locations over VPN and some had issues, I do not know exactly how it was resolved, however...
I do know that in our case we were having trouble keeping the VPN tunnel open reliably. For whatever reason one end or the other would close down and then the firewalls would go through their processes of getting back up, sometimes taking several minutes to pull themselves together. It took several checks of our network consultant to get it stable enough, but it was a problem with the firewalls, something about firmware versions or something. We were using Watchguards. To add to the mess the ISP at one of the locations was having issues, which was causing VERY BRIEF disruption which would cause the Firewall to close down too. I guess there are many values and tolerances on firewall setups and it's kinda specific to the connection. And as you have experienced, Epicor has zero tolerance for an unexpected connection issue. Regularly I experience Epicor session failure with WiFi.
I agree with Joshua, that it really helped once we turned on network compression for the users at the remote location (In Epicor User Setup). And it is best to get the best speed you can, similar to Joshua's speeds.
We ran all 3 of our locations over DSL connections successfully, though we scheduled the firewall to shutdown the VPN each night if not in use. It seemed to keep things stable during the day.

Get a professional who is excellent with VPN's and have them go over the configs of each site and maybe do a WireShark on it to see if they can find the problem, it really could be anything.
But by the end of the day we were running Epicor and VoIP over a DSL connection for a staff at the remote site of about a dozen, so it will work.
Getting the Epicor Anywhere module maybe either a good alternative or a good backup plan to VPN. (I see it as Exchange Web Mail vs Outlook).
Sorry I can't be more help.

Our remote users typically log into the VPN, then we use Remote Desktop Terminal Services to our server (TS02). From there they log into Epicor. If we log into after the VPN and don't use RD, about 5 minutes after connection it would drop.
