I am thrilled this event is being held right down the road from me this coming year (Nashville)
Anyone from the crowd here speaking or attending?
---
Not quite down-the-road, northern IL here, but I will be attending Insights
this year.
---
This will be my 6th year attending Insights. A little bit of travel from Iowa but well worth it.
---
Hopefully I'll bump into you all in TN.
---
Thinking/Planning of coming from Australia, It does seem to come a long way for such a short period of time. I was hoping on adding on a bit of travel to my trip.
Does anyone have any good places to visit around the area? I was thinking taking a drive over to Maggie Valley to visit Wheels through time.
---
Simon,
Nashville is full of music history and I also enjoyed Memphis when I went
through there to see the Mississippi River.
---
I'll be there with bells on.
Jonathan Lang
---
I'll likely be there not sure if we are presenting or not, working on that now. Hope to see everyone there!
---
Randy is right, Nashville has tons of music roots (music row), plus there a
many other cool attractions like The Parthenon replica, 2nd avenue night
life, Titans NFL stadium, predators NHL stadium, Grasmere zoo, a water
park, escape rooms (pretty neat). Nashville's key appeal is that it's a big
city with a small city feel.
Also I feel obliged to plug my Italian buddy's Restaraunt - Bella Napoli,
authentic Italian food (the pizza!!!)
Outside of Nashville you have loads of things as well. Randy mentioned
Memphis to the West which has the low down on blues and BBQ (Beale St) but
it's more dangerous these days- although nothing too horrible. There are
casinos just outside of Memphis in Tunica, MS (and dog/horse racing tracks)
East of Nashville is the smokey mountains (Dollywood), we just had some
severe wildfires there a few months back so I'm not sure what the extent of
the damage is.
South of Nashville you have Huntsville, Alabama which was home to much of
the US rocket/space engine development. There are museums and a theme
park/space camp
North of Nashville is Louisville, Kentucky. My corporate office is located
there so I make the trip ever so often but I have never really explored the
city (didn't want to fight the traffic).
---
Oh and since you mentioned wheels through time, you might enjoy the
Corvette museum in Kentucky just about an hour north of Nashville (going
towards Louisville)
---
Never been but hope to go this year.
---
Chris,
Since it's your stomping grounds we expect a personal tour. ;) Your
friends restaurant sounds yummy.
---
the presentation last year we did together @josecgomez
---
Thanks everyone, Looks like I'll be adding a visit to an Italian restaurant to my list of places to eat.
---
We were busy...

I enjoy going every year. It’s a great place to meet new people and network.

Does anyone have anything to add about the Extended Education: Extending Epicor ERP with Epicor REST Services session that is going to be on Monday the 22nd of May.
or to that matter does anyone have anything to add about the Extended Education sessions that are provided?
Simon
---
Simon,
I've been to them before, I think they're a good bang for the buck. I'm
signed up for classes both Sunday and Monday. The REST one looked very
interesting too but it's the same time as my other class. Oh well, maybe
next year. :)
---
I did an Extended Education many, many years ago in Las Vegas. It was a lab and we spent a lot of time getting the work station images to work in that particular session. I’m sure that’s smoother now. That one was on the Sunday and it was nice that it didn’t conflict with the other sessions and there were fewer people, which made it less hectic.
I, too, am interested in the REST Services event. I assume it still cost $260 even though it doesn’t list it in the description.
Mark W.
---
Wow - trying to pick an agenda is a full days work. It's kind of frustrating the way the classes are broken up. I have to pick my favorite out of 3 classes in a block - tough choices, especially since I don't know what will be most valuable to me based on what I already know and what I am doing in the future.
Mark, it looked like the REST was a standard class (I think all of the paid classes are on Sunday)
---
@Chris_Conn no there is an extended ED for REST that is Paid for on Monday
---
Good catch sir. I didn't realize there are other REST classes (I assumed they were all the same) for example on Thursday 25th 11:25:12:15
---
We should setup a E10Help meetup at Insights.
---
I am game for this, I know @rbucek and @jgiese.wci will be there too. Let's make it happen!
---
REST class or Visual Studio integration and Debugging???? (biting fingernails) :fearful: Trying to beat the early bird cutoff today lol
---
Well that depends on what you need most... are you going to use REST for anything? You planning onmaking mobile apps or web apps that communicate with epicor? If the answer is not any time soon.... then go learn how to customize it and stuff better using visual studio
---
I'm hoping to use REST to pull data from a BAQ, or a few BAQs, into an
Excel spreadsheet for reporting. But I'm not holding my breath just yet
for that.
---
Exactly my biggest desire from REST Randy (I don't have access to the SSRS server :confounded: Plus it's gonna be an uphill battle to get access to the remote debugger). On a related note, my IT manager from Corporate will coming along - make sure you all sway him to give me some access :sunglasses:
Signed up for REST and Customization to the MAX () on Monday
---
Pretty sure that will be covered in the regular session and not the Extended Education.
---
We're not going live on 10.1 until April. REST isn't enabled (or avail) in
10.0. So I'm using BAQ Exports to CSVs to get data in Excel reporting via
scheduled tasks. I'm taking a BPM & Service Connect class at Insights, one
both Sunday and Monday. o.0
The Welcome reception ends Monday night at 7:30pm, maybe the group here
could meet up for a nightcap?
---
This totally doesn't count for my dumb question of the day!
What the difference between CMS speed networking and Print and Pack speed networking? Are those products?
And what is the Solutions Pavillion?

If you are using Excel 2013+ you can connect it to a SSRS data feed and just refresh from the SSRS report directly. You will need to make sure the users have access to query the DB but it is a great way to build data feeds for Excel.

Yes, however they do check your Epicor Access Level at the door... if you don't have access to real tools in your production environment you don't get alcohol! #GrownUpsOnly lol
---
Can I sneak in with you Jose? ;)
---
I added those of you I could find on my contacts.
---
FYI - I'll be helping Brian teach the REST class. I am still awaiting my final schedule but I'll probably have plenty of booth time - Too many folks like to have me there as a resource to either help you solve issues or vector you to the correct folks. It's always a blast to meet so many of you - they keep me locked up coding too much ;)
If you have questions around REST or security or server code in general you will probably be able to find me easily enough. We are doing a much better job leaving time for presenters to have 'hallway time' to meet one on one with customers around a laptop. We can't rewrite your app for you but do take back pain points to argue on your behalf.
---
Speaking of rewriting apps...... any news on Epicor Mobile Framework?
---
Drinks sounds good.
---
Any of you sign up for Extended Education classes? I had the REST courses dropped in my lap so am now teaching the Extended Ed and 1 hour lab. I think it's going to be fun. Looking forward to meeting many of you (or catching up again)
---
I'll be in the ext Ed class
---
I'll be in the extended REST class, see you fellas there.
Also I'm buying dinner for whoever is willing to spend some one on one time to give me some discussions on real world implementation. This may be the busiest week of my life.
---
My schedule (so far) is not totally booked with courses or hall time. I usually end up in a couch and coffee table for an hour with folks by design. Part of the cost of admission in my opinion.
The REST course has a simple javascript and C# sample at the end. The core of the course will run the breadth of the functionality. If I miserably fail at time management I'll definitely try to go over things with folks the rest of the week.
---
I noticed on Thursday, there are two REST sessions at the same time. What will be the difference and which one are you doing?
Mark W.
---
On my internal official list I have three sessions
* Extended Ed 4 hour Lab on Monday Morning - I am teaching
* Tuesday afternoon - A presentation by the Product Owner where I sit quietly in the front row (Ha!)
* Thursday morning 50 minute Lab - I am teaching
It gets crazy just before the end so something may have been added since I got my copy or they have not updated the public list - I am not sure.
The person in charge of coordinating everything is a friend and the insanity of planning large events is ... wow. I have to heard maybe a max of a dozen cats. She has to handle several hundred of us devs, sales folks, managers and VPs - as well as partners, sponsors and customer presenters. Incredible effort in doing it every year.
---
Tell you friend who's scheduling that I am on to her tricks of placing all the best classes in the same blocks so we have to attend next year :yum:
---
I think she has a permanent headache trying to deal with all the dimensions you have to balance
---
> ...Also I'm buying dinner for whoever is willing to spend some one on one time to give me some discussions on real world implementation...
Chris, I'd love to get in on that dinner to listen in on implementing REST. We're looking to implement REST within the next year, but I can't make the extended education class on it. I can get my own dinner since I'd be learning and not contributing.
I'm signed up for 3 extended classes o.0
---
Sounds like we should plan on a dinner end of second day of Extended Ed. I am open to either food or liquid dinner. Someone organize it and let me know where to show up ;)
---
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to sign-up for the Extended Education classes but no matter what browser I use (tried 4 so far) I can't see the Monday Extended Education listings? It only scrolls to the Sunday - Creating Custom Epicor ERP Reports with SSRS class but will scroll down no further. Any ideas? I seem to remember something like this happening to me last year when I tried to download the Power Point presentations from the Insights website but I think I just tried again later and it worked. Bizarre.
Seems like a silly problem but what am I missing?
Can't scroll any further down than this:
(I can see there is more there that is not showing - circled in red)
Thanks!
---
Did you switch days at the top? The UI isn't the most friendly.
---
It certainly is not friendly! I've always struggled with this site....
Unless it's staring me straight in the face, I don't see any Date change options on the actual Registration - Agenda Builder for the Extended Education classes? Maybe I'm just in the wrong location to view the full listing? I'll try some other things to see if I can find the Monday EE listing. Wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced this same strange scrolling issue? Or if it was just me...I'm not even sure I'm seeing all of the classes for Sunday afternoon, and I can't see any of the Monday classes. Thanks @Randy!
---
Feedback sent. Thank you and glad you figured it out...
---
Monday night meetup sounds great to me too. Hopefully works for Chris since it was his idea. LOL

I hate to say it out loud but I'm easy :) It's in my backyard so I am open any evenings.

you'll come to regret that @ 2am...

@Chris_Conn uh oh! Better talk to your boss and sweet talk 'em into booking you a room. Even as a local that'd be hard to drive in each day early enough on those late nights.
---
Not likely. 2 years ago I didn’t stay there, and there were shuttle buses going to/from picking up people at several other hotels.

It's harder to drag @rbucek... achem I mean a peer back to their room when you have to get them up shuttle steps.

I remember having to drag a co-worker back to Ceasear's when Insights was still named Perspectives. LOL
---
Good afternoon, Hello to the group and nice to meet you all.
I have just joined this forum last week or so;
I have heard the Insights in the US is normally much better than what we have in the UK and looking at that agenda it does offer a lot more. So I am trying to get approval to go as well and if so would be nice to meetup and expand my network and share ideas.
---
I am greatly saddened to see that the 'Introduction to C# for Epicor Customizations' and 'Using Breaking and Routing Rules on Epicor ERP Reports' Extended Ed courses are leading my REST course in enrollment... I think I need to do less social efforts up here to encourage more folks to come to the course...
;)
---
Sorry Bart, I had another class my boss is sending me at the same time as
your REST class. Besides, I think I need to skill up more to make better
use of REST as well.
---
LOL, no worries. I'll see you at the one hour lab or the solution pavilion!
---
Don't worry Bart, I'll be there to ask enough stupid questions for everyone :) Best thing is, I don't have permissions implement anything you may manage to teach me.
Monday 8-12 right?

@Randy @Bart_Elia What time sounds good? Monday 7pm, 8pm? The location isn't too far from the venue. (12 miles)
I had dinner with my buddy this weekend and he just told me to give him a head's up and he'll make sure we're taken care of.
Also, for anyone else wanting to join us, let me know ahead of time and I will make sure we have enough seats. I hope to have some discussions on real world implementation of all things Epicor.

Hey I didn't know this group could be bought with candy....
When I was a young pup I had a mentor who was PMI president for california. Brilliant woman who shoved all the project management skills she could into my young skull. The only thing that stuck was the candy jar...
Find out all the snacks that the different members of your team love and die over. Stock the desk candy jar with all those evil treats. You will never be out of the loop. Everyone will always swing by and snitch a candy and you will always have insight into the real status of things. It's saved my bacon on a few projects...

Same here. I get in at 12:45 and then I'll take the shuttle over to the resort. I'll have the afternoon to myself as the next person in our crew doesn't get in til about 6 I think. So an afternoon meet up would be fun (by meet up I mean drinks right?)

I will be presenting two sessions:
-On Tuesday at 2:25pm in Governor’s Chamber E I will be presenting DMT PowerShell Scripts, Lessons Learned
-On Thursday at 10:00am in Governor’s Chamber D I will be presenting how Rowmark has leveraged the many different Epicor Search tools to not only get to the data, but get to it quickly, streamline processes and take out the ever time consuming mouse clicks.
---
Damn, wish I'd have made that second presentation of yours!
---
Thought I would share a little story.
I was in the airport on my way back home from Insights. Three people were looking at me kinda funny, well more funny than normal. Then one of the ladies came over and started talking to me about getting some peer support from e10Help.com. The group were not apart of the conference and had to come over to see what it was all about. I just laughed and told them the website is a great place for folks working with Epicor ERP, though all of you know that already.
So, the t-shirts worked.
It was great meeting you all last week. Lets start thinking about how we can make next year even better!!! I think we should be able to do a few presentations.
---
Yeah @knash ,
We had a talk with Epicor about maybe letting us do some presentations. Of Course you as a customer can already present if you'd like, but we wanted to do maybe am E10Help Q & A panel where we take a few of the big posters in the forum and do an Open Q & A session sort of "Stump the Chump" style, it could be fun!
---
I'm hoping it's stump the chump - I'm too fragile to get stomped :mask: . And yea, that does sound fun - as an audience member (only slightly terrifying as a presenter) haha. I bet it would be a popular presentation.
Nice walking billboard skills Ken!
---
I have more people come out of the wood work to talk to me with the E10Help flag on. So that and the t-shirts really helped get exposure out.
---
I am game for a customer presentation, let me know how I can help out. We have a few cool geeky projects here we are working on that I feel would help the masses.
The customer presentation where not technical enough for me. I don't need an hours session on deep dive BPM and the first 30 minutes are explaining what a BPM is. To me a deep dive is, here was our problem and this is how we used the BPM tool to solve it. We used these features... This is how you can also do what we did. If folks have technical questions about their environment, that is for another session or afterwards.
As more customers move to 10.X, the need for C#, REST, and other ways to enhance the Epicor experience will grow. That is what we need to sell to Epicor. Just keep priming the pump!!!!
---
Chris,
I will be posting the presentations on my blog today or next week. I'll post back once it's posted.
