[epicor-l] Is creating a BPM the only way to allow a user in Epi

Toolbox epicor-lCan't remember the version level where this started working but we're using it successfully on 9.05.700c. There's a Current Company Only option in Menu Maintenance. Be extremely careful in how you set it because you can inadvertently wipe out settings if you forget to set the flag properly. With this flag, you can set up different security groups in each company and assign them to users such that they have different access rights in each company.

For example, we have security group *Write Purchase Order in company A and )Write Purchase Order in company B, as well as *Read Purchase Order and )Read Purchase Order. We then can assign a person to *Write Purchase Order and )Read Purchase Order. *Write Purchase Order can do Purchase Order Entry/Tracker while *Read Purchase Order can only use Purchase Order Tracker in Company A only. The ) versions are for Company B only.

We prefix each security group with a different special character for each company. Why? I believe it reads better and you instantly know which company you're dealing with.

Reply from cheeder on Feb 27 at 4:30 PM As I know, the menu security is the same in all companies. So if a user has rights to a given menu in company A and also has access to company B, then they will have rights to that same menu in company B
in V8, menus also offer a "Current Company only" check box that doesn't seem to work.

Two work arounds, neither one is particularly good:

1. Field security can be set by company, I believe. So if you wanted, you could exclude access to certain data via field security, maybe?.
2. In some instances, we have actually issued users two user accounts; one for Company A and one for company B

And, as you said, sometimes we use BPM's

Not sure what you mean but if you have a multi-company environment then in your user security settings you need to assign that user to each company they should have access to
