Epicor Perspectives

To address a couple of your questions...

Hall of Solutions value....Depends on how you use it and not let it use you. This is heavily a sales venue geared to selling Epicor modules or 3rd party wares (solutions). But the sales people there are backed up by product managers and sometimes even some developers and support people so it is possible to address general usage issues to good advantage. It's not like they're going to tell you to buzz off if you're not going to buy something. They have relationships to build. Happy customers buy more...eventually. And really, as far as I have seen, most of the Epicor employees really like to help if they can. Many times I've asked one a question and had them say "Oh, there's so-and-so over there and they are the expert in this" and then wave them over.

As for over all value...as Paul stated...build relationships and network like mad. Some of the best info I have ever acquired at Perspectives was from listening to other users at the orange tables at lunch (the tables are color coded by product). A 10 miniute conversation in a hallway is as good as an hour (ok, 45 minutes) in a session. The value of Perspectives depends a lot on what you put in to it. With a little work I've found I can easily bring back ideas every year that save 3X the cost of attending (travel & all)...or more. All it takes is one "gee, I didn't know you could do that" moment talking to another user. Of course, I also try to reciprocate and offer my perspective and ideas too. It's a win/win deal.

I'm going to contact our EUG rep and see if there is a list of items
to be addressed at Perspectives.

When you attended before, did you find it to be worth the time/money?

First, is anyone from this group planning on attending the Epicor
Perspectives scheduled for October in Florida?

If so, is there any plan on combining similar issues submitted by
everyone in this group to address with Epicor during Perspectives?
I will be attending (as usual). As for presenting common issues to Epicor...that may be difficult outside of the pervue of EUG. They are the "official" channel for consolidating issues and providing feedback on things like enhancement requests. We have had some more or less informal "get togethers" amongst Yahoo Groupies and once had some "visitors" from Epicor attend but mostly this has been just to put some faces with the names.

It might be useful to create a common subject so that those not attending can post concerns that those who are can address one-on-one in the "hall of Solutions" area...or at least keep an ear out for answers in the regular sessions. If one person has an issue it is likely another will have the same and can offer to take "custody" of it and take it to Orlando for an answer. Perhaps a subject like "[2007 Perspectives] xxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is a short topic description. Besides, official channels or not, Epicor does monitor postings on this group (and other Epicor related message boards) so by asking they may well be better prepared to answer proactively at Perspectives.

We'll be attending again.

There is no plan that I know of, but I do know the best place to bring
the issues up would be the Vista or Vantage forum. The Vantage Forum
takes place on Monday at 3:00 and the Vista takes place Tuesday at
11:10.

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the "Hall of Solutions", have
Epicor customers found this event at Perspectives valuable? Do you
know if there have been a lot of "solutions" offered from this event?
I'm going to contact our EUG rep and see if there is a list of items
to be addressed at Perspectives.

When you attended before, did you find it to be worth the time/money?
I've found the networking to be very beneficial. The first year we went
we found out what the software could do and that was well worth it. At
first we were a little awe struck at the size of the conference. The
second year we were able to open up more and found a very good
consultant, coupled with the stage to place our complaints and we
couldn't be happier with the relationships we've made within the
organization. By attending and building relationships we're now beta
testers and feel that the issues we bring up are actually listened to
and that's a good feeling.

Most defiantly worth it for one person to go down and we could easily
make the argument for two with different focuses (IT, Finanace,
Production etc.)
