Epicor SDK and Ice Tools

No. The owner spoke with the Epicor people in detail. Essentially it comes
down to this. With the SDK you are using the same development tools that the
programmers at Epicor use.
The only thing you aren't given is the Progress report logic pieces and the
Server Side business object pieces (which is understandable).

Hey All,

We do some heavy customization of E9/Vantage and we are interested in
perhaps moving past the built in tools and going with the SDK. We have
developers on staff that know the .NET environment so that shouldn't be a
problem. We tried talking to Epicor about a demo but they told us they don't
do that... I don't know why because we aren't spending tens of thousands of
dollars on something we haven't seen. So my questions are

a) Is it worth it?
b) How hard is it to understand their architecture and get used to the SDK
(we are programmers already)
c) Do they have documentation
d) Any problems / regrets?

Any helps is appreciated since it looks like Epicor doesn't want
to actually sell this by declining to show us the product before hand.

I just came back from the Epicor 9 training class in Minneapolis.

My only comment about the class - AWESOME!!!

We tried tackling SDK without training and weren't able to.

I would strongly suggest setting up a training class for at least one of
your developers to get the ball rolling. Before that class nothing made
sense. Now, everything makes sense for me.

SDK is really the last resort - try everything else and if you still can't
do it consider SDK.

SDK enables you to do anything, but it also allows you insight into the
existing forms so what you might have thought possible only through SDK
actually might be possible by the less intrusive customization.
