This is just an MCP tool, you bring your own AI. So if you are using a local model, the chats would be local.
Even if you are using a cloud provider, the transcripts should be viewable offline as part of the vs extension for that AI.
How can I prevent a user from installing this on their machine and breaking stuff?
Don’t give them credentials to Epicor that would allow them to break anything. I guess you could find a way to block the visual studio code extension urls probably too..

We are working on an enterprise back-end for management of the MCP, allow/deny to specific modules, visibility of MCP calls, responses, etc.
Currently there is no specific lock-out functionality provided to administrators, were a user to download, install, and license the extension, and then input your environment credentials and their username/password, they would get the equivalent system access as if they logged in manually (equivalent at the BO/REST interaction level, not the menu security level, so likely more access than they would normally have)
To block EpiDev user access on the back-end from IT Management standpoint, the most effective thing will be to block entitlements.epidev.ai at the network level - this will prevent EpiDev from reaching it’s licensing server, and it will not allow usage (no environment set up, no read only nor read/write)
This came right in time! Deploying a bunch of updates tomorrow night, so going thru the runbook today to prepare. Fable wasn’t thrilled when I started forcing it to use Sonnet for EpiDev calls…you know it’s a little chuffed when it replies “Fair…”.

If you’re on-prem, tools like this are the only way your company can explore what AI can do for you. If you find Application Studio a challenge, using this extension will help you get to a working solution while teaching you what works and what doesn’t. Whether you have access to Prism or not, this is a really helpful tool.
EpiDev also works with cloud environments, just to clarify. Of course, you can do even more neat things with AI if you’re on-prem.

Don’t hire anyone unless they use EpiDev. Compete and utter game changer - most customizations are a simple ask and evaluate with it.
Just a note on this; EpiDev was recently released (7/15/2026), has ~92 installs, and is currently in beta which means that it may be difficult to find widespread usage.
That being said, it is a nice tool to have and I’m looking forward to watching it’s development.

Yeah, working on the dashboard for it today after my morning meetings. EpiDev makes that easier than fighting AppStudio alone.
I just used EpiDev for the first time yesterday to create two BAQs and a dashboard. I just had to enter what I needed and a prompt or two for tweaks. The result was perfect! This is a great tool that is so useful.
