We are repeatedly getting the following error message so far the only fix is
to reboot the server

msgOpen:unable to open message file:PROMSGS

Any clues on how to fix the problem

When progress starts, it looks for a file called promsgs, which contains
all the text for progress error messages. By convention, it is in DLC,
where DLC is an environment variable pointing to the root of the
progress installation (usually c:\program files\progress for Win9x,
WinNT installations). You can tell Progress to look some where else by
setting the environment variable PROMSGS. There is no startup parameter
to use for this, since progress needs to find the promsgs file before it
reads the startup parameters. So you need to check each client, and be
sure that the promsgs file is where it is supposed to be, and that DLC
is correctly set.

We have been getting this error a lot lately.


Any idea what causes it and what are my options to remedy this?
