Howdy folks,

Ok, I installed Vantage on test server all the way to version 409C. Went through the installation guides, restored a copy of db to it, truncated the bi. Database starts fine in Progress explorer. App servers start fine. I enter my username and password, click ok and receive the error:

The type initializer for 'Progress.Open4GL.RunTimeProperties' threw an exception.

I am using Progress version 10.1B SP3 with hot 33 as well.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Michael

Hello,

Yes, I receive the below:

IOException reading message from server : java.io.EOFException: pipe to server broken (8117)
Exception unbinding broker (not bound) : MfgSys803 (8525)

Which translates to:

CAUSE:

The Database start up parameter -n is set to a lower value than the
AppServer Server "Pool Range" setting.

FIX:

Set the Pool Range Appserver Server settings accordingly to the
Database's max number of clients setting (-n)

CAUSE:

Server startup parameters ( connection parameters to the database) for
the AppServer is set using -pf and the path to the .pf file. The .pf
file referenced in the ubroker.properties file was missing.

FIX:

Restore the .pf file to the expected location.

- I've checked the pool range and cannot see anything wrong - This is using a default install as well.

- Again, the .pf file looks ok - all the correct directories etc...

Regards,

Michael

Michael,
I see you are running Progress 10.1B SP3 HF33, but are you running Progress or SQL as your database? If SQL, I got the pipe to server broken because I didn't have "Named Pipes" enabled in the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
