Nancy, This is what progress help displays.

Subject: [Vantage] event id 3645

Support isn't open yet, hope someone can help.
My server decided to turn vantage DB off aroungd 1:30 am. The first message
in the event log was:
Message from Progress database e:\epicor\vantage\db\vantage (5199)
APW 2:bkwrite: write to disk failed errno 0. (3645)

Anyone knows what this is. I worried about letting users on the system.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

The following error messages occurred on the server when trying to startup
the database.
See Document #190.995 for How to Use Event Viewer to obtain detailed
message.

ERROR MESSAGES:

'event id 4029: msg from progress d:\dcd\vantage\db\dcdv7.db (5199) srv 0
error
opening file d:\....lk. Error no = 13 (4029)'
'Dcdv7.lk is not a valid lk file for this server (4196)'
'multi-server shut down'

==============================================================
BkioWrite Error. Unknown OS Error During Write 33 (3645)
Abnormal shutdown code 2.
==============================================================
'5199 SRV 4 error: date on DB and BI do not match'.
==============================================================
1. Message from Progress Database D:\DCD\Vantage\DB\DCDV7 (5199)
SRV O BKWrite: Write to disk failed errno=0 (3645)
2. Message from Progress database D:\DCD\dcdtrain\DB\DCDV7 (5199)
SRV 1:BKWrite: Write to disk failed errno=0 (3645)
==============================================================
Message from PROGRESS database C:\DWC\Vantage\dcdv7 (5199)
BROKER 0: You Must Truncate the bi before 1st 83 Connection.
==============================================================

PROBLEM RESOLUTION: The above messages from NT Event View should be fixed by
one of six possibilies below:

1) This appears could be a file permission issue on the share C:\DCD. How To
Reset: Right mouse click on C:\DCD folder in explorer, select Properties,
Security tab, Permissions. Check both boxes for Permissions on Existing
Subdirectories and Permissions on Existing Files.

2) Out of Disk space on physical drive

3) Backing up a running Database with a non-supported software package.
(i.e.
Segate's BackupExec) Use PROBKUP.

4) For the DB and BI files not date not matching, the user should restore
from backup if at all possible. If not, it is possible to force our way in.
However, this is strongly NOT recommended. This may lead to missing data
and/or data corruption.

5) Event Viewer show Normal Startup and Normal Shutdown immediately
following.
Have the user go to [START] --> Settings --> Control Panal --> Services.
Locate
and click on ProService double clicking it. Look at the box 'Log In As' and
which is it set to 'System Account' or 'This Account'. If set to 'This
Account' the user specified will be the only person/login who is able to
startup ProControl.

6) During the installation of 3.00.605 Vantage, the .BI file MUST be
truncated
under the old 8.2C client before the copy is made to the new
C:\DWC\Vantage\db
folder which uses the new 8.3A ProControl. Follow the instructions on page
31 of the 3.00 Install Guide on Running the Database Schema Changes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Tech Support may request a copy of the DCDV7.LG file showing the errors.
Usually caused by something changing on the NT server, such as any upgrades,
changes to file permissions, etc.

Shirley,
I am hoping you answered my question. Thanks. I was using a different
server to backup the DB last night, because the tape drive I usually use was
broke. I usually use ArcServeIT, but the one I used last night was
BackupExec.
Thanks again
Nancy
