Extended Properties & UD Column Maintenance missing and cannot be enabled SaaS 2024.1.8

I wouldn’t doubt that. I’ve seen some strange behaviors in this environment.

Oh… @Rich :people_hugging:

Just curious but

  • Have any of your Epicor functions or BPM’s been disabled?
  • Any GL transaction codes blocked ?
  • Dashboard assembly menu items not working?

This pilot update has been a train wreck so far…

I split this off into it’s own thread.

Just for fun, can you change the Program Type to Kinetic and see if you can open it in Kinetic? At least as a troubleshooting step?

That works!!
Good call!

You try both ?

Both work!

When I try to “copy to current company” on the extended properties program, I get the same “you are not allowed to add the DLL Ice.UI.UDExtendedProps.dll to the menu” error you noted previously. @klincecum, can you open Extended Properties in both Classic and Kinetic in your instance?

I get the same error on UD Column Maintenance.

I changed it to a Kinetic App and it worked.

@timshuwy, is there any documentation anywhere about any programs that SaaS users (at least) are no longer able to use Classic versions of?

Hey @klincecum - nice to see you again…

It sounds like a configuration issue where a DT environment has been configured as MT.

I will have that reviewed.

I wouldn’t ping you if I knew someone else that would know what’s going on. :people_hugging:

Send me a competent lackey I can ping at will!

as far as I know, SAAS users still have access to all the classic screens, EXCEPT for the ones that we deprecated in 2024.1, which are the “Classic” and “Modern” home pages, and the never-used EWC (Epicor Web Configurator) (which is different from the EWA configurator, which is still available).

So here’s the conundrum… if we report this as a bug (forms open in Kinetic but not in Classic), is it going to get fixed?

Which form are you referring to? There are some NEW forms that were developed in the past several years that ARE brand new, and were never developed in in classic, so therefore are not available except in a browser view.

Extended Property Maintenance and UD Column Maintenance.

In 2024.1, these two programs will ONLY open in the Kinetic interface. If you attempt to change the Menu Maintenance entry to “Menu Item” and force it to open in Classic, you get “You are not allowed to add this DLL to the menu. Please contact DL-SaaSOps-Americas.epicor.com. -Epicor Cloud Admin”

(see message 11 in this thread)

Rich answered this above. This is not standard behavior, something is wrong with the environment and needs to be addressed.

I do not know of any reason that those would have been prohibited from being in the client versions… that said:

  1. Have you tried submitting a service call on this? if so what is the case #?
  2. out of curiosity, why are you needing to use the old version? is there something wrong with the browser version that makes it undesirable?

Be very careful asking such an open ended question Tim…

Also on a more serious note, if you missed it, in this particular environment, neither classic, nor Kinetic browser menu items were available, until he tried to add it back.

Classic gave an error, and switching to Kinetic worked.
