Field Level Security Slow Down?

Questions about Field Level Security and performance.

I have heard that using field level security slows down Epicor. Does anybody have first hand experience with this either way?

  1. Where is the master switch for this?
  2. If we have this turned on, does it slow everything down for everyone? Or does it just slow down the specific screen that have specific field level security rules in place?

Field level security is turned on Field by field in the Field Security app. I’ve never heard that it slowed things down, personally. I have heard, and experienced, that it doesn’t always work. You can simulate field security with a directive (BPM), but that wouldn’t be too much of a penalty if you’re only checking group membership for a user.
