Financial Report Designer 4.0

Thanks, Mike and Joanne. That's what I needed to do. Put the acct in once
and specify the range of depts. Now why didn't I think of that?

Terry

Just show the acct as 5115 to 5115 once with the depts as 01 to 01, 15 to
15, and 28 to 99. That should work for you.

Terry, I think the problem is that there is not a one-for-one relationship
between the account code and the department range across the input page. A
range of department codes applies to every account listed. In effect, you
have asked for the same data three times.

Anybody ever have any trouble with FRD adding account balances for
ALL ranges of charts/depts for every range of charts/depts set up?
Example: In one line item total, I have from chart 5115 to 5115 from
dept 01 to 01 as one range, chart 5115 to 5115 from dept 15 to 15 as
the next range, chart 5115 to 5115 from dept 25 to 99 as the third
range. The total g/l activity for these three ranges is 575000. I
verified that with an RB report. The FRD shows me a line item total
of 1725000. My calculator tells me that 1725000 / 575000 = 3. I
moved the 5115.01 over to the specific accounts and the line item
total was double the remaining 2 ranges plus the 5115.01 balance.
Then I moved 5115.15 over to the specific accounts side and left one
range of 5115 to 5115 from dept 25 to 99. That gave me the correct
total on the line item.

I looked on ERANet for reference to this specifically and also the
onelist archives and found none. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm able to work around it (the loooooong way). Just curious, is
there a fix I don't know about?

I know the root of your problem. The way the designer report works, it
takes all the account numbers on the left and all of the department numbers
on the right.
It does not use one line - say 5115 plus that department - say 01

Since you typed in account 5115 three times on the account range - it
tripled the results.

If the departments are consecutive - the easiest way to obtain this would be
to input 5115 to 5115 on the account range (once only please) and put
departments 01 - 99 on the department range.

If there are departments in this range that you want to EXCLUDE - put in
only the range you want to include then accept and go to a completely new
line to add the departments you want to add in the next line or lines.

Remember on the format to say "Company" - if you put departmental on the
format - this could also cause errors.

Feel free to e-mail me if you need any help.
