Hello all! We are using Vantage 3.00.628. We have created a report in Finaancial Report Designer like we wanted, except for where the 'Column Type' = Comparative %, the decimal places are 2, we want 1 decimal place. Also, we have to reset the margins and click 'Fit to Page' in the 'Page Setup' each time. Is there a way to save these settings? Any help is appreciated!

Can anyone tell me what the shortcomings of the Financial Report Designer
are? My CFO is not happy with it, but has not really said why. I am just
wondering if someone else can tell me where it is lacking or what might be
difficult with it so that maybe I can help him make better use of it. I was
unaware that along with college I should be taking classes at Madame
Hannah's mind reading school. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Mark,
The financial report designer is a very powerful tool however, I have
also had "formatting" difficulties with it.
After you run a report, you will notice you have an option to export
to an excel spreadsheet (among other choices). If you do this, you
can do all the formatting and moving you want within Excel.
Since I did not want to make all the format changes every time, I
setup a template report and then used cell-referencing to "pull in"
the data from the exported statement.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently adding a template to the report wizard
because many of the reports he wants have the same basic format. It is
proving to ba a little more programming than I had hoped it would be. Wish

the financial side of Vantage finally blew up in my face. A consultant came
in, said Vantage wasn't up to much, MD threatened to throw it, so I wrote
some reports!
I looked at the Financial Report designer, but felt I could do the job in
Crystal rather quicker.
What reports are you needing?
I have got the following coming straight out of Vantage via Crystal:-
1 - Trial Balance
2 - Extended Trial Balance
3 - Profit & Loss Accounts
4 - Monthly Profit & Loss Accounts
5 - Balance Sheet
Coming Soon:-
1 - Monthly Balance Sheet
2 - Extended Trial Balance (based on Account Categories rather than
individual Accounts)
All will probably require a little tinkering to adjust to your Company's
preferred presentation, especially the Balance Sheets and Profit & Losses,
as these sort data on the Vantage Account Category ID (simple change) but
also have some fairly complex calculations to calculate Gross, Operating and
Net Profit which aren't controlled from Account Categories (perhaps they
should be!).

Many problems are caused by how the account #'s are set up originally. I am
a controller and use the financial report writer in conjunction with
export's to fill my needs.

We have a new accountant who is having some trouble with the Financial
Report Designer. It is not pulling in anything for % of Sales. The balances
that it is pulling in are incorrect. I only know what I have figured out
from the help files on this. I would like to put her in touch either by
e-mail or phone with someone who knows Financial Report Designer pretty

Yes - there is a Report > Duplicate menu option. I'm not sure on what
version this option became available.
