Forecast cash flow

Reverse aging works like an AR aging report except that it displays when cash is due in. Allows you to see what cash inflows to expect (making the grand assumption that a customer will actually pay on time) for the coming weeks. For example:

Customer Past Due This week Next Week Yada Yada Yada

Dalton Mfg. $45,987 $12,544 $9,877 $5444 $22,399 $45,877 etc...

Put together with a planned cash outflow report in a similar format should give you what you need.

For us, we are most concerned with cash coming in so that's all our report includes.

In essence, "She me the money!"

Mike

Ajitesh,

I wrote a program like this about 10 years ago in BAL on an IBM 4381 ( ah,
the good old days ... )

We took all open payables --- date received + Days to pay --- or --- date
due + Days to pay. Days to pay was pulled from our Vendor file. As in,
some vendors we paid in 30 days, some we paid in 60 days, some we paid in
90 days ... some we really didn't like we paid in 120 days. The idea was
to simulate incoming invoices and payments with the correct bumps for delay
days on checks going out. ( This would be all open PO's and all unpaid
invoices )

Then we took receivables and did the same basic math. Delivery date to
customer or due date at customer + the average days it took for all of the
deadbeats to PAY US !!!! ( This would be all open sales orders + unpaid
invoices )

Merge the two and it's about as accurate as you can get - say 30% ?

I've been using my crystal ball while building my time machine.

You can get somewhat close for a week, starts getting fuzzy at two weeks.
Monthly would be a great exercise for a young intern with nothing else to
do, and some comic relief to laugh about six months later.........I guess
I'm a little jaded by the owner sending me a note about the 400m he spent
while I was on vacation......the joys of small business, you might have a
little more 'structure' than we do. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try! Make
that a lot of guesses......

Matt
