Form Event Wizrd 8.03.408a

We have 5, soon to be 6 companies we switch constantly between.  All we did was color the ultrastatusbar.  Default(office2007), green, blue, red, yellow.  We have no issues with knowing what company we are in unless they accidently drag the window too low and block the status bar.
The only issue I see running into is using global alerts.  We don't use them but if we did it might screw us up since I use two of the colors.
Hello all,

A possible and probable newb question.

I want to create a dialog box to appear when a user tries to put in a receipt date in receipt header that is not in the current fiscal period. I am aware of how to do it through customizatiom>wizards.form event wizard etc etc.
Since i am not verbose in coding i wonder if anyone has this (probably 2 lines of code)

I just dont know the field names to use.

lol the only code i found was what was in the Epicor tools user guide which allows me to send a message if someone tries to enter a date that is 1 year after the sytem date.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanx
You should try to use the Data Dictionary it is located under System
Management. All you need to do is enter in the table name.

Does anyone know how to change the background color of the Vantage interface
when changing Companies; changing Plants?

I believe you can do it with Stylings and Themes as of a certain version
8.03.408? maybe not even until E9

I'd love some specific instructions on "how to make it really obvious what company or plant you're in". Folks have mentioned "yeah you can apply styles to companies, etc." but I've never seen a doc that tells you how to do this in specific and useful way (i.e. *what* UI elements to style, etc.)

This seems like a FAQ.

I changed the color so we'd know which database we were logged in to-
Dev, Sandbox, or Production, but only at database level.. I'd like to
know how to tailor it to plant/company, as well! Also, one issue I found
was, if you change a border color, the field background changes, and you
have to reset it, or the entry fields look greyed out. Still chasing
some of those...

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I haven't done it in over a year but I remember having to set the style
names & resources to the respective company ids.

Also, don't forget to set your style in the mfgsys config files. Let me
know if you're able to figure it out from there or I'll dig up the info
for you.

Hope this helps,

First, make sure that the user that is changing it, has the theme
management.
I did it off of the main menu, and loaded a theme. The company that I was
working with had two in the default directory. One was a nice "Outlook"
blue. The other was an ugly green that cast a green tint on all screens you
opened. Perfect for comparing the pilot and test companies.

Brian,

I often use a different style to indicate which database I'm in [Pilot or live, as a rule], but I have to set it each time I run the Pilot db. I suspect you could set the style in the config file; but I've not seen anything about changing it on the plant or company. Documentation on this is about the usual level, maybe a bit less.

We're doing great things with the indented BOM report you shared with me. Thanks again!

We're on 8.03.406A and the themes work there. I use the default theme for our main company and different background colors for our secondardy company and the parent company used for consolidated financials. I also have a different color for a second plant in our main company. The users love it, no more complaints about being in the "wrong" plant or company. I also use different theme styles for test and pilot, no more panic attacks about being in the wrong database! There is a section on Style Filters under the Styling and Themes chapter in the Epicor Users Tool Guide that explains what you need to do this.

We have two companies (US and UK divisions) sharing our Epicor installation, and more and more of our people need access to both. I've been playing with Styling and Themes and seem to have mostly cracked the code to make it change colors for different companies, but my question is more design oriented.

I don't want to make the difference a distraction. Both sets of users like the default (Office2007) theme. Do any of you have experience with simply changing the bottom Status Bar (called the UltraStatusBar and the StatusBarTextPanel in the Runtime Styler), and knowing if having just that change colors is enough to make people aware of which company they're in but not freak them out too much?

E10 has 4 new themes, but none of them are making people jump for joy... and the whole Metro Tiles thing is a looming headache (most users still HATE that we've taken away their beloved XP).

I can frequently match my shirt with my pants for the day (I leave the house before my wife is fully awake, and eye-rolls are not uncommon when I get home that night), but that is about the limit of my design sense. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
