Found the reports - Now what's the class name?

I can confirm that epicor wants us to switch from ODBC to adding table to
the current Report Data Definitions. This being said there are some reports
that will not accept the report linking and when you link in the new tables
> create your new XML > then try to modify the crystal report you will
receive an error message, Talking with support I was told that some that
some reports you can not modify. I then reminded them that we were told
that we should stop using ODBC and use the new methods, but received to
answer one way or the other on what is going to be done to fix this. A good
sample is that you can not bring the terms table into the ARInvoice.

Brad:

Epicor recommends against using ODBC and there are many very valid reasons
for this recommendation.

There are detailed instructions for modifying the canned 8.03 reports in
AnswerBooks on MyEpicWeb.

AnswerBook 8596MPS - Benefits of using BAQ instead of ODBC
AnswerBook 7567MPS - How to add new tables to a Report Data Definition
AnswerBook 4778MPS - Modifying a Crystal Report in V8.xx
AnswerBook 7905MPS - Instructions for creating a Crystal Report from a BAQ
in BAQ Report Designer.

If you have trouble finding these on the Epicor website, email me back.

Hi everyone, thanks for your quick responses regard the location of the Crystal Reports. I found them. Now when I go in with Crystal to edit, and try to connect to the data base, I get asked for a Class name in the ADO (XML) connection box.

I have been using ODBC connection in Crystal previously and didn't need to supply a class name. Can anyone help me answer this question to connect to the data?

Thanks!
Brad,

Some of the reports are built to use an intermediate XML file. This causes
the more complex reports to run faster.

What I do is run the report then go get the interemediate XML file from the
folder where vantage puts them \\lexerp02\epicor\mfgsysdata\reports\the
<file:///\\lexerp02\epicor\mfgsysdata\reports\the> user that ran the
report\XXXXX.XML the XXX part will change each time but some part of it will
have a name relative to what report you are working on.

Copy the file out and link your report to the file while you work on it.

You leave the Class blank if you're refreshing in Crystal against the
XML file.
