Free Text Printer Driver?

Just submitting a report for processing leaves a formatted txt file of it in your server///...///uesername/reports/ folder. If you have rights to read the folder, you can open any files dumped in there. (They will stay there for as many days as you spec'd for archiving when submitting the report.

Hello,

I used to have the link saved, but now I cannot find it.

Is anyone aware of a freeware virtual printer driver that prints to a

.TXT file?

For instance, if I'm printing the MOM Report and desire to have it in a

text format (Notepad)... The Crystal Viewer gives many options to "save

as" except .TXT.

I am aware of the BAQ Export Process and that won't work either for my

situation. Also, Print to File won't work either because it embeds the

PCL control characters. I just need raw ASCII text.

Just like the free "Print to PDF" solutions out there, I need a "Print

to TXT".

Thanks.

If you setup a new printer and choose local printer and uncheck "automatically detect and install plug and play printer" then choose "print to file" and select the "Generic / Text Only" driver it should produce the desired results.

Thanks, already tried that and it puts a bunch of PCL control codes
within the txt file.

Microsoft provides one that is built in with almost all versions of Windows.
To go Add Printer, then Add Local Printer, select the FILE: port, then pick
Generic and then Generic/Text Only and you should be ready to print ASCII
output to the files.
