# FW: Vantage on Remote Server **Category:** [Yahoo Archive](https://www.epiusers.help/c/yahoo-archive/9) **Created:** 2001-05-02 13:48 UTC **Views:** 331 **Replies:** 0 **URL:** https://www.epiusers.help/t/fw-vantage-on-remote-server/2794 --- ## Post #1 by @system
We have another plant that is connected with a T1. Vantage performance
is slow. I found the bellow article in my archives. I have a few
questions on the general setup. I would like to do this.

Could anyone provide more details on doing this? What do you do with
the Progress portion of the setup? Do you point back to the original
location for that.

Thanks so much!

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Vantage on Remote Server

We have a similar setup except with a T1. Vantage is installed on the
remote server in exactly the same way as it's installed on the "real"
Vantage server. The Vantage mapped drive letter is the same LETTER for
users at both sites but the remote user's mapped drive is the one on
their
local server. The only difference is the vantage.vtg file on the remote
server. In the "ConnectOptions " line, replace the local server's name
with the "real" Vantage server's name.

The only problem is that every time you install Vantage on a new machine
at
the remote site, you have to fix the vantage.vtg file again. You also
have
to keep the patches and/or custom programming the same on both servers.

We are using Vantage in two facilities, about 1 mile apart. We are
networked via a 10MBT microwave.
The IPL in the remote location is from 30 - 50 seconds. After load,
response times average around
3 seconds.
I would like to install the Vantage libraries on a server in the remote
facility, in hopes of improving
performance. I looked for a document on ERAnet that pertains to this
procedure but was unable to
find anything.
If anyone has any information on how to accomplish this, I would
appreciate
hearing from you.
Epicor has checked my LG file and has given me the thumbs up on startup
parameters.
Thanks in advance.
