I am on Vantage 8.03.409C and we have the DMT Tool. We have adp excel report with our account numbers which the controller imports into the GL with all the accounts from ADP excel report on the payroll.
We are moving to ADP at the end of the year. Getting rid of our Sage Abra. Does anyone import payroll entries directly into the G/L?
I don't know if ADP can produce an import file for you or not. Here is how we do it. I get data from our payroll provider (Paychex). I run that through an Access database which spits out a csv file. In Epicor, I create a journal entry. Then I copy/paste insert the contents of the csv file into the list for the journal entry detail. It took a lot of work to set up the Access translation process, but with that out of the way, it now takes me about ten minutes to make a payroll entry.

They called to ask how I would like the output format. I am going to test pasting from excel into journal entry then see if they will just send the output in that format.

We copy and paste from Excel also. Our ADP payroll reports come in on a CD
in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Someone from HR highlights the items they need
to enter, then types those required entries (about 160) from the reports
into fields in an Excel worksheet that we created to match the wording and
flow of the ADP reports. Formulas verify everything adds up correctly.
Another worksheet in the same Excel workbook links all the GL Journal
transactions to the fields from the HR worksheet. The spreadsheet is given
to accounting, they hide any lines that are highlighted a certain color
(entries that are blank for this payroll period because they do not apply),
then copy and paste the rest into Epicor. It works great and doesn't take
very long (about an hour including time for both HR and accounting). The
spreadsheet did take quite a bit of time to develop, but prior to developing
it, accounting was entering the reports directly into GL journal entries
which produced numerous errors and took at least 3 times as long to process
each payroll.
ADP does have a product called GL InfoLink that can export whatever
transactions you want to a file. However, ADP charges you by # of employees
on each check run. With the limited # of GL transactions we have, we
calculated that our manual method costs less than half as much for each
payroll than it would if we paid ADP for an export. If we needed a lot more
data elements from the ADP reports, it might be worth paying for the
exports.
Hope that helps.

Can you go over the steps that you perform to create the journal entry and then copy the data into it? I'm needing to do EXACTLY what you are doing only with an ADP created file.

We currently use ADP and we DMT are journal entries into the G/L. We found out that was much easier than the GL import functionality.
