General Ledger not matching stock status report

I have found that entering material receipts against the next month before
balancing the stock status report against the GL for month end will throw
things off. The cut off date on the stock status report did not seem to help
regarding this. We balance before entering any of the next month's material
receipts and this has made a big difference.

Hi everyone,
My name is Denise and I am new to the group. Our g/l and stock status
have been relatively close. Then all of a sudden it is way out of
balance(raw material only). Can you please give me some ideas as to
what could drive these two apart? We are currently using version
6.10.528.
Thanks,
Denise
Look at your DMRs. We just recently discovered that the GL hierarchy
changed for processing DMRs sometime between 4.0 and 6.1. This was one
of the contributing factors for our GL Stock Status mismatch.
Also, look at your part classes. If you have a part class that is coded
to an expense account (e.g. supplies) and you stock this item you will
also run into mismatch problems.

Denise,
This can also occur if someone changes a Part Class for an inventory
item in the Parts Master from an Inventory GL to and Expens GL.

Some immediate ones are;

Buying a part to 'other' but having it coded to inventory

(Will go on Balance sheet but not stock status)

Or

Buying part to 'inventory' and coding it to an expense account

(Will go onto Income Statement but not stock status report)
