General Ledger Report

Sharma:

On the reports section/progress reports thereÂ’s a glreports.prl I put out
there many moons ago. It is a general ledger account balance with activity
report showing beginning balances, monthly activity, etc. Check it out.

Does anyone know,
which tables are used in Generel Ledger report given in system.
I am trying to make the same report so that we can export it in excel
and manipulate it but not getting success.

Please Help.
Sharma,

I am extracting tables into Access from two different databases and merge
them all together to generate all kinds of reports (still developing it). I
was successful creating a trial balance for any company (regardless which
database the company resides) using the following tables:

GLAcct - gives you Account, dept, div, display account, Balance Sheet or
Income Statement Account, etc.
GLCompany - Provides the description of the company ID you might need in
your reports
GLOpenBalance - has the open balance of each account at the beginning of the
year (Balance Sheet Accounts Only - See GLAcct to differenciate).
GLPerPeriodBalance - Provides current and previous months balances.

The reason that I tried the trial balance first was because it is the
easiest report to do and test. I am in the process to modify all the
categories and subcategories of accounts to accommodate the consolidations,
etc. that need to be done for monthly books.

Maybe, someone else in the group has done more reports that will need to
include some other tables....

The tables that start with GL will get you close. In the GL Journal Detail report (which mimics the same in Vantage) I use the GLAcct, GLJrnDtl, and GLJrnSrc.

GLAcct to GLJrnDtl linked by Company to Company, Division to GLDiv, GLDept to GLDept, Chart to GLChart.

GLJrnDtl to GLJrnSrc linked by Company to Company, FiscalYear to FiscalYear, JournalNum to JournalNum, JournalLine to JournalLine, JournalCode to JournalCode.

Sharma,
The tables I gave you is what you would see in Account Tracker. Using the GLDept, GLDiv, and GLChart as the Parameters, you can enter the account number and get the detail.

It may not be what you are looking for, however.

I calculate the beginning balance for an account as follows:

1. Balance Sheet: Get the opening balance for the account and add all
debits and credits for all periods of the fiscal year in question except the
current period. This is your beg bal for the period (OpenBal and Per Period
Balance tables).
2. Income Statement: Add all credits and debits for all prior periods
and that is your beginning balance for the account (Per Period Balance
Table).

Anybody doing this differently?

Ok Sharma....I got ya.. With that report you can 'print preview'
which will create a RPT file in the Vntgwork like (RPT00853.rpt)
This report you can open in Excel as a fixed width text file. You
may have to adjust a few numbers and delete the page headings and page
breaks but it should do the job.
