General Vantage Question

I don't remember what the speed was like on 3.0, what can I say, out of site
- out of mind. I can tell you this, for us 4.0 seems to depend on the
client processor/RAM and the client network connection. For example, we
have a P3, 800, 550 MB that logs on in 3.5 s and is VERY fast in Vantage.
We have a P3 451, 200 MB that logs on in 19 seconds and is half as fast once
in vantage. And, we have a Pentium 90 MB that takes 38 seconds to log on
and is SLOW once in Vantage.

Hello all,

We are getting ready to make the change to Vantage version 4.0 from 3.0 and would like to get some input from some of you about the performance of Vantage 4.0 When we upgraded to version 3 the login times were very slow until we did some performance tuning.. like buying a new faster server. In your opinion is Vantage 4 slower than Vantage 3 as far as logging in and just in general or is it about the same as version 3.0 ?

Thanks for your input

Paul,

Big time performance issues. Mostly on the client end from what I've seen.

From a server point of view I can't give you a "Min" size without knowing
allot more about your network config.

From a client side .... we could run V3.0 with fairly decent performance on
a P-75 or P133 with 64 meg of RAM.

Personal opinion V 4.0 needs at least a P-200 with 128 meg of RAM for
equivalent performance.
