Generating print jobs gets hung up - 8.03.404

There are several Answerbooks on Print Troubleshooting on the Epicor Web
site.

Look for the one that is for your version.

We are on Crystal 11 R2. This problem seems to halt the generation of
the output files (XML and .bt) that are used by Crystal and Bartender.
After the server is restarted, the files that were queued proceed to
generate and the reports are displayed/printed. I assume it has
something to do with the Progress ProcessServer or TaskAgent getting
hung up, whichever is responsible for creating the files, but I just
don't know enough about the Progress side of Vantage to know how to
correct the problem.

Thanks,
Ed

What version of Crystal are you running? You need to make sure that all
of your crystal reports are created in version 11. We had major issues
with our reports because they were created using Crystal 10 back in
Vantage 8.00.807. Then when we upgraded to 8.03.804 we didn't upgrade
the Crystal Reports to version 11 because the reports still worked with
version 10. However we did suffer through a lot of poor Vantage
performance before we opened all the reports in Crystal 11 and re-saved
them. Once we did that most of our problems went away...

The print failure is a common occurrence here for us as well, but not
the Vantage hanging up part. We do on average however reboot the
Vantage server once a week for a variety of reasons (none of them good)
and that seems to not be so uncommon from what I've spoken with others
about. It may not be everyone's experience however. Unfortunately I

We are on SQL and at least once a week users can no longer print from
Vantage. Killing and restarting the process and task servers just hangs
Vantage up altogether, so the only solution so far is to restart the
entire server. Anybody know what can be causing this and how to fix it?

Subject: [Vantage] Generating print jobs gets hung up - 8.03.404

We are on SQL and at least once a week users can no longer print from
Vantage. Killing and restarting the process and task servers just hangs
Vantage up altogether, so the only solution so far is to restart the
entire server. Anybody know what can be causing this and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Ed

Our .xml files get created almost immediately after the print request is
made. Maybe your appserver settings need tweaked. If you want we can
swap screen shots of our appserver settings. Maybe something will stand
out to me. I've done a lot of troubleshooting for these kinds of
problems. Our appserver settings were tweaked by Ben Nixon.

All canned Crystal Reports and customized Bartender labels are
definitely affected, but I will have to pay closer attention if the
older Vantage reports are also affected.

Does it happen to both canned Vantage reports and Crystal Reports?

The print failure is a common occurrence here for us as well, but not
the Vantage hanging up part. We do on average however reboot the
Vantage server once a week for a variety of reasons (none of them good)
and that seems to not be so uncommon from what I've spoken with others
about. It may not be everyone's experience however. Unfortunately I
can only offer sympathy and no real help!
