Get Details error

That sounds really strange to me. I am at 5.0 and run resetlic.r 5 times a
day as part of a scheduled task because we have "hung licenses" so often. I
have never had it bother any of our 8 Data Collection licenses. You might
want to have support look into that issue further. It should not affect any
"live" sessions.

I used it and it cleared the lock BUT also killed 15 data colection machines
too.

We are still running version 3.0 (don't laugh) and now I'm getting 2 errors
when we try to do a get details in Job Management. It processes for about 30
seconds then we get "Lock Table overflow, increase -L on server (915)" and
"Insufficient disk space or write access denied. (291)".

Check the amount of free space on the machine you are on - I had a similar
problem of getting errors when I would try to print anything. I was getting
terminated from Vantage every 15 minutes or so - it was very frustrating.
Turns out that the drive that my temp file was located on was about maxed
out. As soon as I freed up space (and then moved the temp file to a spacier
drive) the problem pretty much went away. Hope this helps.

The lock table error was a common thing in 3.0. You need to edit your
global config file, Startup.PF and add a line to specify more locks,
like: -L 20000
I forget what the Progress directory was on 3.0 ... \DLCSrv or
\DLCSrv\Progress ? ... just do a search for the Startup.Pf file. You'll
need to stop & restart the database.

Try correcting that first. The "insufficient disk space" may just be some
side affect of that.

I was getting the Lock TAble Overflow error as well. Mine was caused by
ODBC connections that died without giving a command to clear the
transactions from the lock table. I found out that a user wasnt waiting for
MSAccess to finish running a very long query and he was killing the process
via the Task Manager. The only way to fix it for me was to reboot the
server.

In the case of an ODBC connection getting orphaned on the server, there is a "KILL.exe" file that is around somewhere that you can use to kill a process without having to reboot the server, or even restart Vantage.

It worked for me in NT 4.0 Server. I don't know if it would still work for Windows 2000 Server or not. I haven't used it recently.

No, I'm talking about a Windows NT file (command) that kills any process. It asks you for the PID number of the process, and then proceeds to "kill" that process.
