GL Set-up V-8.03

I'm setting up General ledger chart of accounts - We use division,
department, chart.
Directions say to avoid setting up chart of accounts manually use the
Generate command. Go to list and delete account you will not use.
I can not seem to get this to work. I must be doing something
incorrect. Help!!
