Global Alerts Emails (6.10)

Hi,

Is there a particular reason for using the following command

"ASSIGN Email-Mime-Header = {&TEXT-Mime}."

Is so that your email server accepts the email format? But as you say
even with no p you are having problems.

Our BAM is also showing as Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit. and works
ok on outlook.

There is a file called VantageEMailLink.exe in the dll folder under
mfgsys. It just says it is version 1. Did you upgrade from a previous
verison?

I'm returning to an old problem of mine, hopefully somebody can put me
straight!

I'm generating an email confirming receipt of a sales order.
This is triggered by the OpenOrder value in OrdHead via BAM.
BAM runs a (very simple) .p file to generate the mail and send it to the
correct customer e-mail address.
The .p file contains the command "ASSIGN Email-Mime-Header = {&TEXT-Mime}."

This all works fine EXCEPT that nothing is displayed in the body of the
generated mail (using Outlook) despite having had values defined via "ASSIGN
Email-Text etc etc".

It appears that the mail is being generated in a multipart MIME 8bit encoded
format, which I guess(?) is the reason for the body text not being displayed
even though it is present in the Content-Type contents of the mail.

Has anybody any ideas on how this is happening and how I can overcome it?
TIA
Regards,
Richard

Do other Bam alerts work ok?

What email server and client are you using?

All BAM alerts demonstrate this same problem, even ones which don't use a
specific alert .p program.
Mails generated via BAM show as "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit" whilst any
other mails generated via Outlook show as 7bit.
Our mail server is an old, dedicated NT 4.0 box running VPOP3 software and
seems to handle any/all mails except Alert generated ones.

Even if I direct the mails to an external web mailbox, (e.g Orange, Lycos)
the body text is unreadable which leads me to presume that Global Alerts is
the problem rather than the mail systems.......maybe.
