It may be false. Run conversion 6430 to recalculate the warehouse
demand and onhandqty's first.

I have a part that in tracker that shows a Job Allocation. We want to
change the Warehouse that it is going to be pulled from in the Job. We
look at Time Phase see all the Jobs that have a requirement for this
part and then go to those jobs but in looking at the Job we can not
find the Job that has the Demand from the wrong warehouse. I have
looked at Firm and Unfirm Jobs.

Anyone know where else this demand could be coming from.

Does anyone know how to change the name of the originator when a global
alert is sent. We have moved a PC from one department to another and it
shows up as the old name when a global alert is generated. It is also using
the old name when looking at the connections in use on promon. The name was
changed on the PC in network neighborhood and is listed there under the
correct name. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim Frice
--- ## Post #3 by @system
Check the registry. Run Regedit and do a search for the old pc name. If
you find any, change them to the new name. This would be the first place I
look, short of reformatting and re-installing everything.

My Win95 & 98 machines show up in ProMon under the username they are logged
in with. Try doing a shutdown -> log on as different user and see if the
default user that comes up is the name you're trying to get rid of.

Also-aren't global alerts connected with Outlook (or whatever e-mail you are
using?) If that's the case, Outlook keeps the original name it was
installed with EVEN IF YOU UNINSTALL and RE-INSTALL. The only way around it
is the regedit someone else suggested.

I thought the name comes from the name defined in Network Neighborhood.
Right Click and select Identification and change computer name.

The 'name' comes from the Host setting in your network settings.
Go into Control Panel | Network | TCP/IP <for your network card> |
Properties | DNS Configuration | Hosts. Change this setting to the
new user's name. Reboot.

The process is slightly different depending on which global alert you are going to set. Have you looked at Help in Vantage? It's cryptic, but will give you a place to start experimenting.

Ken,
I had the question marks too. The alerts didn't ever work from the workstation I was using for some reason. But they did work from other workstations. You have to make sure that whoever triggers the alert (ie. when shipping an order or whatever the alert is) that that person has all of the emails exactly correct including the name of the people associated with the emails. In other words, if the global alert was set to send an email to <Charlie Chip> cchip@..., and the workstation shipping the order has the name in their address book as <Chuck Chip> cchip@..., the global alert won't work.

Hey everyone!

Ever since we upgraded to 5.1 I haven't been able to get global alerts set up right. We had it set up in 5.0.

For some reason when I click on the "to" button to browse for the user I want the alert sent to, it keeps pulling up my Outlook Express address list. I want it to pull up my Microsoft Outlook address book. I know it sounds weird, but we use Outlook Express browser for our external email and use Microsoft Outlook for our internal office email (long story). So, I need the "to" button to pull up my Microsoft Outlook addresses.

I always make sure that I open up my internal mail (Microsoft Outlook) when I first come in. I heard that you have to pull up whichever browser you want global alerts to look at first. But, it still browses to my external email addresses. I have even tried to set up the user's address in my external address browser, but it still does not get delivered to her.

Any ideas gang?

Wendy,
It sounds as if Express is your default email program. On express check
under tools > options and see what it says about Express being the default
email client. I'm not sure why that would change by going to 5.1, but check
and see if that is it.

Good Luck.

Is Outlook Express registered as the default mail client? You can have
multiple mail clients but only one can be default :)

Jim & Lee,

Actually Express is my default email client. I changed it to MS Outlook and the addresses pulled in correctly. Now the big question...........................I know everyone else has Express as their default............Do I have to change their default clients also for the alert to be sent to the proper address? please say no............
