Global Scheduling in Vantage 8.03 Creates Overloaded Resources

Rob,
Thanks a million! I went back to the fields you mentioned and found that the resources that were being overloaded were not set to "FINITE". When i corrected the oversight hte schedule fell into place exactly like I'd hoped. Thanks again.

Hello everyone. I'm familiarizing myself with Vantage 8.03 job management and scheduling in preparation for a planned upgrade from 6.10. I created several jobs to play with. When I use the Global Scheduler a number of resourcs show scheduled overloads. I've read through the publications we have and read through the HELP menus but nothing jumps out at me. I tried reviewing each job and each operation to see if I set something up improperly but I'm just not seeing anything. Can anyone give me some tips as to what I should look for to correct this issue? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
1) Ensure the resources you want to finitely control are checked
Finite within the groups they are located within(resource group
maintenance). If you do not they will be considered an infinite
resource and will not honor scheduled hours but will honor days
available (as defined on the calendar they are tied to).

2) When you run Global Scheduling, ensure that you check the Finite
Load box if you want to Schedule using a Finite Capacity model. If you
do not; all scheduling, regardless of any other parameters, will be
done in an Infinite Backwards Pass Scheduling mode.

3) Verify what your finite horizon is. This can be set at various
places such as company, plant, or resource group maintenance.

If you have your setup done correctly, the worst I have seen the system
overload a work center is by .01 to like .12 hrs.... this could be a
rounding thing. At most facilities ability to execute a schedule, this
shouldn't even be a point of contention.

Hello everyone. I'm familiarizing myself with Vantage 8.03 job
management and scheduling in preparation for a planned upgrade from
6.10. I created several jobs to play with. When I use the Global

to see if I set something up improperly but I'm just not seeing

correct this issue? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
