Goods inwards label Vantage4.0, Crystal 7, Progress 9.0b

You're quite right, it is a square.
I did an 'Asc' on the symbol and it returns a 1 which seems to
be 'start of heading' according to an Ascii table on the net.

I can't seem to find the right operator in the formula editor to
replace it with another character as you describe in your reply. I
realise I'm probably flogging a dead horse as I'm using outdated
versions of Vantage and Crystal Reports.

This is really frustrating me as the part description is the only
thing holding me back from being able to issue the label printing kit
to the stores guy.

not get the users to stop using the Enter to advance to a new line in
text boxes. I'm not sure if description is a memo type field (as
passsed in DBF file) in which case formulas would not be allowed.

I have successfully modified the standard Rcvlabel.rpt to fit and print
out properly on a Zebra thermal label printer. The part number prints
out fine, yet the part description just comes out as a single strange
symbol. The part number is coming from rcvdtl.dbf and is called
PARTNUMBER. The description is also coming from rcvdtl and is called
PARTDESC.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Jonathan
What strange symbol? Perhaps a square box like thing? This would usually be a sign that the description starts with a Enter (return) character (ASCII 13). In many reports I try to repalce all CHR(13) (or whatever it is in Crystal) with a space. Try as I might I can not get the users to stop using the Enter to advance to a new line in text boxes. I'm not sure if description is a memo type field (as passsed in DBF file) in which case formulas would not be allowed.

I have successfully modified the standard Rcvlabel.rpt to fit and print

out fine, yet the part description just comes out as a single strange
symbol. The part number is coming from rcvdtl.dbf and is called
