Gray boxes on Vantage reports

Yes, we tried Version 10.0.

I had a ACT consultant tell me that previous versions were better (his
opinion), but I couldn't find any earlier versions.

That mysterious gray box that appears on many reports. We found that
be setting the printer as default would solve this. We just
installed Winfax Pro, and that doesn't appear to work with it. Has
anybody gotten to the bottom of this?

Vantage 5.1 and holding...
I had absolutely no luck with WinFax. I doesn't work well when set up as a
client server application even though they will tell you it can be done. It
does not run well (and isn't supported) on Win2000 Server. Every Crystal
report I ran through it looked bad enough that we returned the software.

Plain text docs from Word would do much better but the overall quality of
the received copy was still poor. The support I received from Symantec on
WinFax (we bought 10 copies) was night and day compared to the support I
received on Norton Anti-virus. I spent several hours configuring Norton
with a tech who knew the product inside and out. Support was fantastic.

WinFax on the other hand is a "consumer" product. If the online knowledge
base can't answer your question you are basically SOL.

Interesting. Had absolutley no problem running host server on NT 4.0, and
clients on 98's/2000/XP's. All faxed documents have been beautiful and the
program is real easy to use. The only issue is the Gray boxes. I am looking
to go to all 2000 Servers soon, so I appreciate the feedback. I will have to
test it on my 2000 test environment.

Thanks,

Les

Let me know how it goes. The only solution to the grey boxes that I found
was to modify the crystal report and print them as "clear" boxes.
Otherwise, they always printed too dark to read.

I didn't have any problems setting it up and it ran fine initially. But, it
hosed Word on my 98 boxes. A known bug with a work around. I had conflicts
with area code settings between the host and client. A problem they had a
solution for after several calls. The transmit times were very long. The
killer was the poor quality of many of the crystal forms. When I tried to
work this out by changing printer drivers and/or the modem I was told they
didn't support Win2000 Server (so quit bugging us with your problems).

Yes, it was easy to use and I liked it a lot at first.

What modem and printer drivers are you using?
