Hardware recommendations for 8.03?

At my site the answer is YES!

Is there an effective way to measure load time?

I will try with a stop watch but let me know if there is a better way.

Joe, I'm curious, are you suggesting that the Vantage fat client now is
in "turbo" mode with this new DELL vs. the other desktops? So how many
seconds before PO Tracker or Order Tracker launches?

I recently got a new pc from Dell.

It has a dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, and two 10K SATA hard drives
in a RAID0.

Vantage is ridiculously fast. I'm afraid to show anyone else at my site
because they would all be requesting the same specs which we wouldn't be
able to do.

This PC is not a normal user PC but being the IT Manager comes with some
benefits.

I would suggest making sure that your true power users get a PC with
decent power.

Hello Mike

Our company migrate from V6 to 8.00 abut 1.5 year ago. Thanks to our
consultants form DotNetIT (very professional guys -they know what they
are doing) it wasn't very painful - everything depend on properly made
personnel training. The good side of that is, Vantage products are
keeping similar structure, menu and functionality apart from layout
change, so for users which used to use V6 - it won't be so difficult to
absorb training. Within next couple of months we are going to go next
step ahead and upgrade to V803 but it won't be so huge step if you
compare it with V6.

From hardware point of view V8 is much more resource consumable, so
after short time we had to upgrade our clients Pc's hardware to minimum
P4 above 2GHz (ideally dual core/core2duo) , minimum 1.5 GB RAM (ideally

2 Gig, below 2 we experienced stability and memory issues, especially
for multicompany usage)

We're currently running Vantage 6.00.523 and will be moving to 8.03 soon.

Does anyone have the most recent server and client hardware/OS
requirements? Is the Windows Vista O/S compatible now?

We currently have 17 general users and 4 data collection users.

Also, has anyone done this conversion to 8.03 lately? How painful was
it? Did I hear correctly I'll need the latest Crystal?

Thanks,
