I know there are third party products like Docket Docket is a frontline operations platform built for mid-market manufacturers and frontline workers to streamline operations, analyze shop floor data, and boost productivity.
If you’re on Kinetic, just use the browser on device. Caveat: if you’re on Android devices, request the desktop site. The mobile desktop site is broken for me even on 2024.2, but easy workaround. Same works for DC if you’re trying to get proper license utilization for MES. Then customization is just via Application Studio.
For barcoding, we have Zebra devices where you can configure the scanner, so nothing custom is really needed. You certainly could develop an extension or embedded app to do barcodes on non-scanner devices via camera but honestly Zebra Android tablets are ~$800. It does miss the fancy skipping you can do in-application after each scan, as well as custom processing of a scan. Bet you can still figure these out in App Studio as long as there is a configurable scanner.
In our case, we already have a fancy custom mobile application, but combining the two means we get the most flexibility at the least possible cost. Custom scenarios get handled more efficiently, and basic functions don’t have to be replicated in our own app.
