I am attempting to simulate job splitting in Pilot. The part has a sales order for 14pc, on one release, make direct. I changed some settings as follows:
Site Maint > Planning > Multi-job > Schedule Multi Job = true, auto-load successor, predecessor jobs = true, minimize WIP = true.
The top part has some sub-assemblies. In the past we ran these as subassemblies on the main job. In this simulation we are attempting to make individual jobs for each subassembly so that we can split those detail jobs as needed. For each sub-assembly part, I set the Plan As Asm = True, and Non-Stock = True. (Not sure why I set all these settings…)
I ran MRP and it suggested the 7 jobs I expected. One top-level job, and 6 detail jobs. In my simulation, I performed work on each operation for the detail jobs. I split two of the detail jobs. In the first one, only 8 of the 14 parts were completed and ready to send ahead. My job moves ahead with 8 pieces, while 6 parts stay behind on the split job. I did the same thing on another detail job, for 6 parts to move ahead, and 8 parts to get left behind on the split job.
Finally, I performed work on the operations for the top-level job, for 6 pieces. Then I split the top level job to ship off those 6 pieces. The remaining 8 pieces get held back on the split job.
I did WIP/COS capture, and job closing, but when I run the WIP report I don’t see WIP being relieved from the detail jobs.
A question came up during review that I am not sure about.
Do we need to issue materials to the main job, if the detail jobs are make to job? It looks like after shipping parts off the main job, the WIP was not relieved on the detail jobs.
Please ask any clarifying questions. I have no idea what I am doing here!
Thank you for your time!
