Help no answers yet

thanks everyone for the various suggestions and ideas. I opt to recreate
the form with the new printer driver installed on the workstation. I have
no old printers any more. Thanks again.

When I had issues with Crystal, I installed it on the workstations, then
uninstalled, telling it not to delete shared files...it might be something
to try, but it worked way back when. The best bet is probably installing as
an older printer, like an HPII or even a 5pcl.

Lois,

Under certain circumstances, reports will behave differently on systems
deployed with the Crystal runtimes vs. the full version. In most instances,
we've been able to eliminate the problems by applying the appropriate
service packs and re-building the distribution.

It doesn't matter what printer we use. HP 1100, 12290, Sharp. They all are
recent drivers but still no good. Does it have to do with the fact that
these desktops don't have Crystal on them?

Lois, I don't know if you looked at this yet but the times I had problems
with the preview not matching the printout there was a difference in the
printer or driver used on the computer creating the Crystal report and the
computer actually printing the report. They must be identical or some weird
stuff sometimes happens.

Try opening the report in report builder and changing the printer to the printer your trying to send it to. Sometimes It takes up the printer settings that the report was created on. Change the printer to your printer and save it.

You do not have to install Crystal on the workstations.

We have had problems with Crystal here and sometimes what you see on the
preview isn't want prints out. We have noticed some reports when saving
them something happens within Crystal and it just trashes the report.
Everything will work and the preview will look good, but the printout will
not work. You can start a new report and build it exactly like the one with
the problem and it will work fine. We can pull up both reports and look at
them and they are identical, but one will print correctly and one will not.
It's insane, but has happened here at lease twice.

Lois, No they do not......they should have the same
driver for the printer that the computer that created
the Crystal report has.

No, users do not need Crystal.

Progress does not support all the printer drivers on newer printers. This
is really a pain sometimes. Most of my printers (HP4050 and HP5000) work
fine, but the HP2100 does not. What I had to do was use an old HP LaserJet
II driver and it prints fine, but you loose some of the other features (tray
selection is iffy.)

When I had issues with Crystal, I installed it on the workstations, then
uninstalled, telling it not to delete shared files...it might be something
to try, but it worked way back when. The best bet is probably installing as
an older printer, like an HPII or even a 5pcl.
