Help - SQL Server 2005 Keeps Going Down!

We had a similar problem a few months ago (except SQL 2000) when we
installed patch 532 for OpenEdge 10.0B.
After fighting it for two weeks we rolled back to patch 526 and the
problem went away.
We found nothing in Epicor documentation about using 532 with SQL but we
later found a brief statement on the Progress site that said the 532
patch should not be used with SQL Server.

Anyone else having this problem? We are on v8.03.305i. This started
2 days ago, happened 3 times yesterday, and happened once today. The
users can't save anything and then Vantage doesn't respond. When I go
into progress explorer to restart the appservers, the main appserver
won't stop and I have to kill it through task manager. Any idea's?
We are getting beat up here! I'm not seeing anything in the logs,
however this appears on the log "09:24:29 Usr 33: WARNING: -l
exceeded. Automatically increasing from 200 to 210. (5408)". Anyone
know what this means or how to fix it. Throughout the day, multiples
of this get logged.

Please contact me directly.

When this happens select the appserver and right mouse click and open
status. If there are lots of appservers running see if one of the status
dates of last change is an older date or time than the rest of the servers.
If you find this is true there is a current bug with the appservers locking
up on the current progress patch and currently the only fix is to stop and
restart the appservers.

Have seen Vantage users get hung up and Windows Task Manager has always been able to shut the session down. But sometimes they can't log back in even though their prior session is gone. This usually happens to whoever is trying to sign in when the AppServers get confused and the only recourse is to stop/start the database. Started rebooting the Vantage Server weekly and the problem went away. Not really acceptable in 24/7 environment.

Sometimes the AppServer takes a LONG time to shut down. Have seen this since 8.00 beta. Don't know why it happens.
