Help today - IDX Process Dump and Load

I am not on 6.1 but that is the exact same question I get when loading from
Vantage 8 using OpenEdge 10.1b so I assume it would require the same
response.

Yes, you have to rebuild the indexes and the "proutil mfgsys -C -TB 32 -TM
32" command looks correct. Epicor recommends answering 'n' to the free
space question but I always answer 'y' because I have more than enough free
space for progress to use an external file to sort the index before loading
it. Of course, that would depend on the size of your database and how much
free space you have. In Version 10.0 and 10.1 of OpenEdge there are a
couple of other parameters that can be used with the command but I don't
have any idea if they are even valid for your version of progress (I assume
you are on Version 9.x).

Subject: [Vantage] Help today - IDX Process Dump and Load

Hello,

I am running a 6.10 dump and load on my database and have some
questions. I'm hoping that somebody is in today (Saturday) because
there are some confusing points about the documentation.

If you are there and are familiar with process, I would greatly
appreciate it if you could reply with a phone number and help with
what I think is a simple question.

I have completed the following steps from the database repair menu:
3. Remove Bad Record Fragment, 5. Load Block, 7. Load RM Dump
File, 8. Reformat Block to a Free Block
You will be prompted with the question: "Scan Backwards Y/N?"
Simply press <ENTER> through this message.

I am confused about the next step as the instructions are somewhat
unclear. Below it speaks about INDEX REBUILD, then talks about NT
(FOR NT (you must do this at the server for NT). Do I need to perform
this step if I am on Windows Server 2003, or am I done after
completing the above DATABASE REPAIE MENU steps.

Thanks - Randy Weber

Below is the part I am unsure about. Do I need to perform these steps?

===================================================

INDEX REBUILD.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Following the DBRPR and/or due to index
corruption, you will need to rebuild the database indexes.

Follow this procedure to rebuild ALL indexes.

To rebuild all indexes, select All from the Index Rebuild Utility
menu.
The index rebuild will begin processing. The utility ends when the
DOS prompt is redisplayed.

FOR NT (you must do this at the server for NT)
1. With the database stopped.
2. Go to Start>Programs>Progress 9.1D>ProEnv
3. At the DOS prompt type: prompt and press enter
4. Change directory to: C:\Epicor\mfgsys60\Db> 5. From this DOS
prompt enter the command:
proutil mfgsys -C idxbuild -TB 32 -TM 32

Select "A" for all from the pop-up menu.

Answer "N" no to the question: "Do you have enough space for
index sorting? (y/n)"
