Hide Supplier TaxPayerID

Hello,

We are trying to allow only certain users to have access to the Supplier TaxPayerID on the Supplier Entry and Supplier Tracker. The custom data rule hides the Tax ID field but on the Supplier landing page the Tax ID field is still visible. I changed the TaxPayerID column to hidden and then added the TaxPayerID to the Hidden Columns. I even deleted the TaxPayerID column from the Grid Model \ Columns list. When the customization is deployed any user can personalize the landing page grid and change the Tax ID field to visible. As a matter of fact, the personalization slide-out shows the entire Vendor table fields.
What am I missing? What else can be done to hide the Tax ID field?

You can do field security. Added bonus is it works for BAQs and dashboards too. We do that with sensitive fields.

Why, I can find out yours right now. It’s not really sensitive info.

Because some suppliers might have their SSN as their tax ID number.

Makes sense now.

If y’all forget I can give you that too.

In Europe, the Bank IDs are on every (AR) Invoice. As Kevin mentioned , Tax IDs are publicly available for businesses. With all the breaches, hiding individual SSNs is almost pointless. It’s better to lock down at the credit agencies. Chances are pretty good they are already exposed.

What we really want to protect is updating Bank IDs to prevent unauthorized deposits into a fraudulent account. A BPM restricting to a member of a group is a good idea.

But there is no valid reason to. The IRS provides free Employer Identity Numbers (EIN) to protect a DBAs Social Security Number. :person_shrugging:
