How am I supposed to remove a 'Group By' column in Kinetic?

I don’t see any way to remove that group if I add it:

The only way is to refresh the whole page for it to be removed. However, if for example I clicked on ‘Save Layout’ on my grid, the group is stuck there and I can’t find any way to remove it

Is it a bug or am I just dumb and can’t figure it out? I thought that simply dragging it to the grid would remove it but I always get this icon and it does nothing:

Go to Personalize Columns and/or Restore Defaults?

If I remember correctly… there should be an “x”… but there was a glitch and they weren’t visible.

Try clicking where the “x” is in the below:

Here’s an example which DOES show the “x”:

But, again, there was a previous issue (in previous version(s)?) where it wasn’t visible.

I just found my answer on another thread but the X is invisible and you should just click anywhere right of the name of the field and hope to find it… Not sure if it’s fixed in a more recent version but it’s weird that it disappeared like that. It’s there in my example:

I think this should do it.

Edit: Looks like you already found it.

Yeah that’s the one I found ! If someone is in the most recent version, it would be nice to know if the problem is fixed there or if I should open an epiccare ticket. I’m on 2024.1.21

Looks good in 2025.1.

The “X” is present in 2023.2.13 and 2024.2.12

Good to know that when we will update our version, it will be there. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappear for 2025.2. Thanks everyone

We’ve run into that problem various times throughout the upgrade cycle.

The BIGger issue for us is that when you click the “X” to remove it, it seems to take an unusually long time to reset. So much so that we have just told our people “ctrl+r,” which is consistently faster than waiting for the reset…

Bug or just us?

Thanks!

@josephp that is something we also run into. Curious if you also have issues expanded and collapsing DBs with large data sets that are grouped. Grouping in general is SUPER buggy for us.

We have an ongoing issue with large datasets… At any given time, we have 1000 quotes open or double… The introduced issues with not being able to search due to the field type (passively), without downloading all of the data, are a big issue for us. Many people have pointed this out, offered what they are doing as band-aids, and similar things have been turned into tickets or ideas. Yes, grouping is buggy, for sure.

We have resorted to pre-sorting through BAQs and custom drop-downs as a help, but we are trusting that this keeps getting better, especially now that Epicor will have more than double as Kinetic very soon… the classic users don’t have some of these issues, but they will soon and they won’t be too excited about it.

I am attaching an example of how we are using the grid to pre-sort some scenarios for us in quotes and orders. This has been helpful for our account specialists (crm-related).
