How delete an item from a JOB and TRACK it FW: La

Good Day:

RE: How delete an item from a JOB and TRACK it

Related topic to zero-qty question.

You cannot delete a material from a JOB, but can replace the Part#; so the work around is to have a dummy Part# = " Part Deleted" that is non-stk, non-qty-bearing, etc and replace the real Part# with "Part Deleted" part#.

Anyone know a different way, since changing the qty to zero is not allowed.

Main goal is to have a record of what was taken out of a JOB (or Sales Order) in order to get a handle on why we have so many "Orphan" parts in stock -- defined as being in-stock but there is no record of why it was ever bought\needed. I think the only answer is to write a 'change log" record, but how do you mark the one in 10,000 action that is a problem?

This is, of course part of the BIG picture of reducing inventory. If we can figure out what creates "Orphans" we can reduce the dead inventory.
