Hi Friends,

I need help in creating BAQ. I just learnt to create simple BAQ and now I am doing Updatable BAQ . I am using customer table & trying to update it through BAQ.

Does anybody know ? How to do this ?

Thanks for help in advance :-)
You need to be using Epicor 9 to have Updatable BAQs. There is a tab in the BAQ designer and and a check box to make the BAQ updatable and allow you to choose the Business Object you need to write your information back to the Database.

In your case I would start with the Business object Customer Entry depending on the fields you wish to update. Remember you can only update one table in a BAQ.

Go to the update tab and select which column(s) you want to be updatable. Go to the Update Processing tab and uncheck advanced bpm then click the Business Object button and select Customer, in the listbox to the right of the button click ttCustomer. Then at the bottom right of the window click Regenerate BPM Directive.

This is a BPM you have as a pre-process on Customer.Update. Looks like it expects to have a phone number populated.
Review you BPM.

We are on 9.05.700C and I have done several of these. What I have found is that on the update process tab all the experssion fields shown in the grid need to be filled in on right column. if you have blanks the easiest way I have found to have these fill in it to go back to the display tab and add those fields to the display. once in a while I have to manually fill in one of these fields with a constant like "current company" or the like.

Then repeat the steps that Ted states to refresh the update processing tab and regenerate the BPM.

Updateable Queries also require that you have all the fields from the Primary Index included in the query. For the Customer table, this would be Company and CustNum. If those fields don't exist in your query, you'll have problems performing the update.

You can use the Data Dictionary Viewer to find the Primary Index for a given table, but it's hidden by default, so you'll have to perform a customization or personalization to show it.

Hi Chad,

Finally done as I was ignoring primary index. Now I added n its working now. Thanks for your great support.

Its working but I have one doubt. For updating should I add all the mandatory fields & other non- mandatory fields which are mention in Method Directives .

I checked all in mandatory fields & other non- mandatory fields in Method Directives . Am I doing this process correctly ?

Please suggest.

Thanks
Kiran

The Primary Index fields just need to exist in the query. If you're layering a dashboard on top of it, they do not need to be displayed.

As to the other fields that are mandatory, that's up to you. Since you aren't creating new records, the mandatory fields should already be filled in. So really, I'd only include them if they provide some value to the query you are running.
