How to Delete a Mtl in a Job when the line has transcation

Hmmm. I wouldn't think you would have to do any extraordinary adjustments to PartDtl or PartWhse allocation records when simply marking a material as issued complete (using a native unaltered control in Job Entry).

What version are you on? (We're on 405a.)

What happens if you issue 1 pc to your 1000 pc job material requirement detail and, in the material issue to job program, explicitly mark it as issued complete? (Is PartDtl & PartWhse allocations 'housekeeping' taken care of?)

If this does all the housekeeping (including I believe adjustments to allocations recorded at the whse bin level) then you can likely reproduce the housekeeping behavior via a BPM or customization.

Before doing so, I would suggest closing the job and seeing if that takes care of the clean up. If it does, you should check if it cleans up records correctly whether issued complete was set in job entry or in the material issue program.

(You don't want to add a BPM or customization that ends up causing a doubled reduction of allocations upon job close.)

If it looks like a BPM or customization WOULD result in doubled reduction of allocations upon job close, you probably simply have to live with the skewed values until the job IS completed and closed.

If your jobs are long lived, this may be an unacceptable problem. I believe there is a utility to recalc & reset all allocations. It may be necessary to run this after marking the mtl detail issued complete (when none are issued).

All potential paths seem like they are going to be a pain in the neck. You may simply have to decide which is the 'least worst'.

It's a shame as it all seems to be based upon some programmer's false premise that the existence of a PartTrans record for the Job Mtl detail should somehow limit the ability to edit the in process job (and break some dead end cost chain).

...One last idea (a total cludge but probably the most reliable) - Fully issue the material to the job. ADJUST the issued qty back into inventory (at whatever cost it was when issued) and then adjust job costs to offset the cost of the issued materials.

I'll say it for you: YUCK.

Let me know what you find. I suspect what you are describing is happening in our environment right now and going un-noticed. Anything you learn and share would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Or others i want to empty the job allocation value.
This Mtl line Qty is 1000,user issued 1000 and returned 1000,so this
line has transcations. But it is a wrong Mtl Line.So it got a big job

Unlike Labor activity (for which completed transactions can be deleted), material transaction records are financial asset movement records and, to my knowledge, cannot be deleted (nor should this be allowed from an accounting audit trail integrity perspective).

In your case, you have no other option than to mark the job detail material requirement as issued complete even though net zero has been issued. (This can be done in Job Entry and probably other places).

Once marked complete, it will stop generating requirements and you can simply add your new detail.

This Mtl line Qty is 1000,user issued 1000 and returned 1000,so this

line has transcations. But it is a wrong Mtl Line.So it got a big job

allocation value.user wants to delete.

Does anybody know how to do that?

Just as an fyi (and will probably make you pout); this has been
identified as a bug on 8.03.403B/C and fixed n 404A and SP 405.

There are two:
Can delete a mtl seq if a transaction (issue or return) has occured
Can delete job linked to another job is a Job Receipt to Job
transaction has occured

Wow. First time I can honestly say I'm glad we moved to the buggy disasterous that is 404.
