How to find current effective part revision using BAQ

Rob (or anyone else familiar with this):
We are in process of getting ready to go live with this system.
We are running into an issue in our application struggling through
figuring out a way to handle phase-in / phase-out cases effectively
with our multiple layer bills of material (using phantoms).
I am curious to know why you would want to have multiple approved
revisions for an item with different effective date and how you are
using this. Can you explain?

I am writing a BAQ to export all parts and the current revision. The
issue I am having is that the Part Rev table has multiple approved
revisions with different effective dates. I end up getting multiple
revisions for each part. How do I pull only the latest approved
revision?

Thanks,
Rob
I did this in Crystal. I could not think of a way to do it as a BAQ

1. Add PartRev Table to report.
2. Group by Part Number.
3. Add the fields you want to display
4. Sort by Approved Date, Descending
5. Move the fields from the Detail section to the Group Footer
6. Hide the Detail section

It will show only the latest Approved Date.
