How to get a Crystal report file RPT to be usable from Vantage S

I have also found that when the DSN you created the Crystal report
under is named differently from what the DSN is named on a client
that the report will not work on the client machine.

Thanks,
David

OK, what I thought was an easy issue is not.
This is what I have:
a Vantage 8.x server running with Live and Train DBs.
I have a crystal 2008 (simple) report in .rpt format.
I would like to get the report to be accessible from the vantage menu
system. please let me know where I need to start here.
Thanks, much.
Ian
You need to go to menu maintenance and add the item

You need to be sitting on the folder that you want to add the report to.
If you are resting on another report you will create another sub
directory.

I hope this helps

OK, what I thought was an easy issue is not.
This is what I have:
a Vantage 8.x server running with Live and Train DBs.
I have a crystal 2008 (simple) report in .rpt format.
I would like to get the report to be accessible from the vantage menu
system. please let me know where I need to start here.

Thanks Kersten:
I did get that far already. In frustration I did not tell the full
story.
I am able to get the menu item added. I am able to get the report to
work just fine in crystal. I believe that my problem is with the DSN
and login. My report is on the menu and when clicked it opens a
small screen allowing me to use existing account info or put in my
own. Either with sysprogress or the default existing it will give me
an error: Load report failed.
Under Inner exception:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
So, my very general post was to see if there are any preexisting docs
that show how to get a report "preped and ready" for Vantage 8.03x.
I believe that I am missing something simple...maybe not!

Thanks
Ian

There really isn't anything specific. I add reports all of the time (too
many to count). As long as you have the password set in your registry
there shouldn't be any problem with the DSN. Make sure the report
resides on the server and you are entering the path correctly with the
.rpt extension. I usually copy from a existing report so that I don't
make a bunch of typos and just change the name of the actuall report.
